Topic: Disposables - Which do you prefer and why Posted: 15 March 2011 at 7:55pm |
Hi ladies!
Hope I havn't doubled up on topics. Which disposables do you use? Pro's and con's? Best price/where from?
We use the cloth Real Nappies at home which are GREAT! And huggies at night and out and about, awesome nightime nappy, just getting quite costly!!
Also has anyone tried Pampers??
Looking forward to getting some feedback!
Oh and the best value i've had for Huggies is at New World on special, 44 pack of Crawlers for $17.99. Works out about 40c a nappy.

I use huggies. I've tried treasures, pams, budget & babylove but none were as good for my boy.
I got a box of like 81 is it? for $35 at the warehouse about 3 weeks ago. They last ages coz I only use them at night.

use cloth during the day and the treasures nappy pants at nighttime. Changing his nappy is a mission in the evenings (involves me chasing him all over his room) and the nappy pants are HEAPS easier to get on. Never had a leak. They are on special this week $9.99 at foodtown (plus I imagine countdown).

I used huggies until switching to cloth part time at 8 months. I found they were the best and didnt leak or cause nappy rash. But they are the most expensive. I still use huggies for night time.
When i do use disposables during the day i just buy budget. The work well for DD, ive also used these overnight on occasion but that was closer to 2 years old. I dont know how they would handle a younger child overnight. They are only $5.50 a pack of 20ish nappies. So one of the cheaper ones.
Treasures & pams have never worked for us. They leak. And i have tried home brand once and they stunk. We didnt even use a full packet because you could always smell urine and not because i left dd in it for ages, when she would go it would stink the house out. Really nasty unlike other nappies which ive never had that problem

Homebrand here, 50 for $21 they last all night - have tried Huggies and Treasures - both leaked on her. Have tried Pams but have found they don't hold as much as Homebrand. Tried Budget - were ok but hate the tabs - like tape. Tried the Bbaylove ones for the poopouch - no go with the 'poo pouch' or 'poo pouch' my foot. I think that's all of them... oh Woolworths Select they were great like Homebrand! But they only go to umm 6 or 8kg!
Have found Homebrand at Cdown and Woolworths. Huggies/Treasures - most supermarkets New World, Woolies, Cdown, Pak n Save... Umm Pam and Budget seems to be New World and Pak n Save... Baby love is most supermarkets again...

I haven't noticed this, I did with Budget though! But I have noticed that if she's in it overnight and done a very full nappy sometimes she gets 'crystals' on her bum like jelly crystals - know disposables have crystals in them to absorb the pee but these are the only nappies I've found that do this...

I use huggies at night, cloth during the day. I've tried treasures and home brand but found neither great. Treasures nappy pants I had the worst poo leaks out of so only ever used that one free pack.
My Dad went and got me heaps of woolworths select infant nappies for the new baby so shall see how they go. If it's a big failure they shall go on TM.

we are fully disposable for my 6mo DS and treasures have always worked well for us - no problems with nappy rash or leakage. Bucking the trend, I'm not keen on treasures - I find they smell wet after even the tiniest pee, and when I go in to the nursery to get DS up from a nap all I can smell is dirty nappy.

I only use Huggies - only ones I've found that hold everything. Have never had to do as much washing as I did when I tried Treasures. I also don't mind Pams, but only for daytime. Home Brand and Budget couldn't contain everything either.

We do Homebrand here too (disposables overnight only). They do smell like wee quite quickly sometimes, but I think I have noticed that with other brands too (can't for the life of me remember which!). They hardly ever leak though!
I have found Huggies to be completely useless for us, such a waste of money. They leaked the most out of any of the nappy brands we've tried (which is just about all of them).

We mostly use cloth use huggies for overnight and going out.
But my mum just gave me a packet of pams and if they are significantly cheaper than huggies I think that they would be fine for the daytime use.
I did try and like the woolworths select for day but they are too small now, babylove seemed too thin and treasures are average.

We use huggies but now im starting to use treasures during the day and huggies for naps/overnight. I find huggies last the longest, hold the most and havent leaked or given K rashes BUT they are so expensive.
Have been thinking about trying pams/homebrand/budget to see what they're like

I've just started using the red label ones at the warehouse for overnight.
The little girl I look after uses Huggies but I reckon Pams are just as good.

Recommend you try others! Never know until you try!
It's quite funny - we talked about this in my coffee group and a lot of the mums said they only used huggies because it was a. more expensive so surely the 'best' and b. because that was really the one brand that they saw everywhere in advertising etc.

Dryups work real nice. But just the German brand. Dont like the USA make and wont get it if they are out of German brand. They fit nicely with Andrew as he is so thin and all other nappies seem to not fit his body type.
And then there is another one that I cant remember from another online shop I get if dryups is not available.

We use Pams during the day - stock up when they are on sale at $3.99 and when you're buying for twins cost matters. Use Treasures at night. I stock up big time when they are on sale, almost embarrassing when you see my trolley sky high with nappies. Still, they don't expire!
Have tried the budget nappies but they got nappy rash with them (only ones that has happened with) and the Signature Select were good but I tend to shop at New World or Pak n Save so there equivalent is Pams

Huggies are the best by far. I've tried most other supermarket brands but the cheaper ones tend to need changing more often (therefore using more of them - so not that great a saving) or leak or smell.
I buy Huggies when they're on special, which is most weeks at Countdown atm.

We use to use treasures as DD leaked out of huggies at night time when she was little but now fits huggies better than treasures!
We also used Pams for a few months mixed with treasures and found DD was getting a persisent nappy rash that didnt go away until I started using huggies consistently and we haven't had it back since.
We are in disposibles full time unless its just before bath time and i chuck her in a cloth nappy.

Forgot to add the Warehouse 365 brand is good too and was from memory about $10 for a little pack of maybe 16/20/24. Never had any leaks from them but they were more a daytime nappy imo.

I use treasures with DD and huggies with DS2, huggies seem to give DD a rash, where Treasures doesnt, but the treasures NB nappies leak instantly with DS2, and huggies can be fastened anywhere, allowing it to be adjusted for smaller babies. I bought a box of 108 for $28 thanks to a $5 off voucher AND being on special just before having baby (plus had a LOT of samples from P&C show from the last 2 years lol) and havent even used half the box yet, and a pack of 20 nappies in DDs size will just about last a week, I tend to buy 2 or 3 packs when they are $10 or under and that usually gets us through til they are on special again
