No no, I'm not pregnant lol (worst nightmare!)

My friend has just found out and was wondering if she can still play indoor netball? I said I thought it was fine, after all another friend played competitive football til 6 months in consultation with her m/w, but I was just wondering - does that seem right? It's a social team but she's a competitive person - she knows to hold back if she needs to though.

I'd ask the MW. But if it were me I'd b e fine with it for the first trimester since bubs is protected in the pelvis. I'd be more wary once it moves out just in case I crashed into someone or got elbowed etc

I also think it is a bit unfair on the other players if you are playing while pregnant. I know it would certainly affect the way I play if I knew my opponent was pregnant, I'd be weary about banging and crashing into them.

I played indoor netball until I was about 20 weeks, my midwife said it was perfectly safe, as long as I was careful. But, I stopped then as DH was really paranoid, I had quite a big fall (some stupid over-competitive young guy knocked me down) and I was starting to feel that it was getting too much.

But, as I say, my MW said it was perfectly fine

I played indoor netball till about 10 weeks, but by that time I was feeling truly awful after a game - definitely my body trying to tell me it was too much.....but prob depends on each person!

She doesn't have a m/w yet, 6 weeks along but only found out a few days ago as it wasn't planned.

She'd be sweet. You say she knows her limits, so as long as she doesn't push harder than usual there is no reason for her not to play. Maybe, if you play a particually tough and physical team she would be better with a half game or sitting that one out. Was it....Adine Wilson? Who still played world cup netball? One of them did. Of course they are in a class of their own but so is the feriousness of their game.

I played indoor football till about 8 weeks with Callum but stopped when the actual season started (as opposed to pre season training). It was only "social" footy but the range of abilities was huge. Sure, I knew my own limits but when you're playing against people who haven't played a sport before (or even played a little) they're not as good at keeping themselves to themselves IYGWIM.

This time I played till about 6 weeks (competively) but felt terrible the next day and decided to give it up as it wasn't worth feeling rotten for an entire day afterwards. I've had much worse MS this time though.

My doctor was happy I gave up football as it's a contact sport but was very encouraging of continuing with swimming/running/yoga etc.
