For those of you that have it, like myself, were there any supprt belts/braces that helped at all- if so, where can I get one? Any particular physios that helped?
It's pretty debilitating! :o(

I had it with my first, and am just waiting to get it with this one :o( I bought a wide back support band from a surfing/wetsuit shop that helped much better than the thin ones physios give you. Its made of wetsuit material though so can get a bit sweaty! Also went to a cranial osteopath and had acupuncture, both of these helped. Whereabouts are you?

No problem. I'm in tauranga so was going to recommend my osteopath, but thats just a little too far for you to travel! I ended up with an emergency c-section as even after 3 induction atttempts bubs wasn't budging, but this was more to do with her being 10lb6oz and posterior than my SPD! Luckily my SPD wasn't that bad.

My SPD wasn't horrendous but bad enough! I used a Smiley belt (pretty much like the wetsuit one EmilysMum mentioned, but commercially produced), I got mine off Trademe.
I gave birth vaginally, usually once you're in labour the SPD pain pales in comparison!!

I had SPD with my second and birthed at home no problem :) It was definitely the least of my worries when I went into labour! As for the belts and physio I am not quite in your area so can't recommend anyone, but I would strongly suggest checking out local acupuncturists and / or an osteopath with experience in treating pregnant women.

I've got SPD and I got a belt from Life pharmacy........they have a range of stuff there for support things.
Catch 22 for me though.........although the belt did help my pelvis it made my tummy tight and uncomfortable and if you feel the heat like I do it gets really hot wearing it.
The best thing I do now is sit sit sit..........which is hard when I'm on my feet for work but I make sure I sit between patients and when not working sit or lie down if at home. Just through resting lots I have found it to be better but I still get the burning pain in my pubic bone when I first get out of bed..........stink thing is I have been told this makes all good for child birth but I'm having a c section.....ripped off
LOL anyways hope you feel some relief soon as I feel your pain!!

I had it quite bad late in my first pregnancy.I used a support belt and went to a physio, neither really helped.
Am now pregnant for a second time and got SPD at 12 weeks, have been seeing an osteo this time and it has worked wonders.I cant recommend the osteo highly enough.

Thank you all for your replies- its nice to know others have it.... I have been told by specialist to avoid walking... and anything that makes it worse- or I will end up in a walker or crutches! Its really painful and cant lift my legs.. have to use arms or hubby! Osetos sound like they help so let me give that a try...!!

you can get a smiley belt from smileybelt.co.nz, my physio also gave me a tube stocking which I wear all day and night and sleep with a pillow between my legs, I have found that nothing is really taking the pain away I just have to be careful. My OB has said that he does not want me to have a c section as it means getting over that and the spd will be to much.
