I used to take mine out often (before I took it out permanently about ten years ago) and after about an hour or so it'd need a hard push to get it back in. I still have a slight bump on the inside of my nostril, but thankfully no external scar!

mine has been out for years and with a wee bit of effort i can still get an earing in. lol. i would leave it a couple months before taking it out and maybe take it out for short periods building up and see how long it takes before you have to wiggle it back in so you get an idea of how long it can stay out for cos everyone is different. im sure i had a small lump the whole time i had it in but i dont remember?

Mine still had a little lump there for ages afterwards. No problems with it now.

Mine closed up after 2 days, then again I only left it in for 2 days after getting it done (I sorta hyperventilated when getting it done - have a fear of blood noses so wasn't the smartest idea getting it done!) No lump from me, but there was one until it closed.

No probs taking it out for that amount of time spoecially since its been in a couple of months. I've had both sides done a few times, had a lump with each piercing too.

Mine doesn't close up that quick....I've had to take it out for surgeries and MRI scans (so between 30 mins and 3-4 hours) and never had a problem getting it back in. I've had it for nearly 12 years now though. Oh, and I don't have a lump, but I can't remember whether I did when I had it done.

I had to take my tongue bar out for last c-sect, it was jolly hard to get it back in! My other piercings I just had to have plastic/silicone instead. Taken them all out now, something about them grossed me out with this last lot of m/s. DH took out his labret about month ago, still open. You should be fine to take it out for makeup etc. My one used to pop out when I yawned, usually in the shower, where it disappeared down the drain! Good thing they're not too expensive, =).

Ooh tongue, had that done, it used to close within a couple of hours even though I had it done for ages so would always have to kinda push it through. Swallowed a few of those in my time

I had my nose pierced for about 6 years, on and off. Always had a lump in there but it was never sore after the initial healing period.
Mine closed up pretty quick, within 48 hours but you should be well fine to take it out and replace it by now.

I only had my tongue for 3 years, i had those silicone bendy bars which are a lot skinnier than the metal ones so that might have had something to do with it. My ears never stay open for long either, & I had the first ones done when I was 5! & yep, I swallowed a couple of balls too. The last one was when I first got preg this time, one of those glow-in-the-dark ones so I got kinda worried about the plastic dissolving in my stomach acid & affecting baby. Can we say "super paranoid"? Lol!

Just thinking- DH can take his tongue bar out indefinitely & hasn't had a problem putting it back in- being high voltage electrician he has to wear the plastic ones too, guess it's just different body chemistry?

About the bump thing - did you guys with the bump on the inside of the nostril get it pierced with the ear piercing gun? Cuz that's what causes it!
