Hi There
I have a verison of the new Microsoft office but wither need a activation code or to spend $300 and buy it, id rather not buy it at all, But i do need to be able to type some stuff up, im wondering if anyone knows of a good program like Word that i can download for free and it is quite easy to work ? This would be much appreciated

You can download a free 90 day trial of MS Word from the internet, have you tried that?
The only other totally free wordprocessor I know of is AbiWord, but I've never actually tried it (a friend in a similar situation mentioned it)

you could try open office - it's free to download and has most of the same things as word - they also have one for excel as well

We use open office here, although I haven't needed to type anything for ages so not sure how good it is, DH uses it to change his CV etc with no problems.

Just one word of caution....if you're using Open Office or any other word processing program, it's likely that you won't be able to use your documents to apply online for a job. Open Office will open MS Word docs (but stuff up the formatting) but MS Word can't open Open Office documents (it's a different file format).

Im pretty sure you can save the file to be compatible with Word. You need to go file-save as *.doc
In the options I believe you can actually change it to save files in MS Office formats by default as well.

I was going to say what Kellie said you can save open office docs in word format. I used to do this before I got microsoft office.
I have a few exercises that you can do in open office if you need them from uni. How to do drawings, save things etc.
