hi girls, now I've got my two beautiful children I think thats probaby it, I hated being on the pill and took myself off a few years ago (hence 2 kids, opps), I was wondering what contraception all the Mum's who want no more (or 90% sure they want no more) use?

Congrats on the arrival of wee Jeremy Spudling - I must have missed his birth announcement!

I know a few people use the Mirena for loing term contraception post-baby.

I'm getting a Mirena. It is pricy if you don't qualify for it. But in the mean time its the old rubber.
I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

I found the mirena really great. I had heaps of probs with the normal IUD but the mirena was hassle free, pain free contraception

Thumbs up to the Mirena here too.
It is not very painful to get fitted and after intermittent light bleeding in the first 3 months I have had no periods at all and no horrid side effects.
If you're planning to get your full 5-7 years worth of contraception from it, I think it is definitely worth the $450.

I'm getting an IUD in a few weeks... quite excited. It's not Mirena but certainly has to be better than the anxiety about pregnancy I've had in the last few months!

i had a normal iud put in at the end of last year back when i didnt want anymore kids and its worked great so far. the only problem i had was when the gyno was trying to put the thingy up to hold my cervix open i kept wanting to push it out lol.
i will be getting it taken out at the end of this year so we can ttc #2 and then once #2 is around a year old i will get another iud put in again.

i do get cramping during pms though which i never used to ge\t.

I have the info booklet on Mirena and it says that you really should use pads not tampons with it....do any of you use tampons?

No. The bleeding I had after it was put in was heavy for the first week after insertion, and then for the rest of the 3 months was so light it hardly even warranted more than a panty liner.

with my iud i was told to use pads for the first af after having it put in and then it was fine to use tampons. the mirena sounds like its quite a bit different though
