Capreces stump fell off when she was a week old and it was a bit weepy bit cleared up. In the past couple of days ive noticed its become weepy again and theres a wee round slimy ball sticking up from the middle of it its so gross what can I do to make it go away?

The midwife is coming on Tues but any ideas in the mean time?

TIA

Ew, I remember that stage with DD. We just had to wait until it healed over. Pretty sure there isn't anything wrong with it, as long as there isn't any redness, or discharge etc. indicating infection.

Yea I don't think there is anything to do. They're pretty gross but they don't stay for long. If they get stinky, your mw can give you some powder - but it's not necessary, just kind on the nose

just gently clease it with some saline (can buy vials of this from chemist for cheap) if you want. although usually it should really be healing by now pretty darn well. If it had previously healed up and has now gotten icky again then i'd give your midwife a ring and just run it by her. In the meantime try and stop her nappies from rubbing on it and just make sure it's kept nice and dry.

i just gently clean james' at every nappy change (his is still jsut a tad yucky), and then lightly dry it.
i had forgotten all about what happens after the stump falls off so my mw was getting constant phone calls asking if the icky suff was normal
so if you have got any concerns just give her a call.

Samantha had this too, it was really weepy and kept bleeding. We were told to clean it with a damp cotton bud and put Bactroban on it by the m/wife. It cleared up in about 2-3 days after we started doing this.   Hope that helps :)

Connor needed a special cream for his (prescription) - get your midwife to have a look if (especially if it looks inflamed) - and do the salt water wash thingees mentioned above

We used salt water around James' belly button and that made it heal nicely just but some salt in a little pottle and dissolved in boiled water kept it in the fridge it stays sterile for 24hrs.
