Hey, it's ok It all seems to go wrong round this time of the year. Everything will be alright, you just wait and see. If it's any consolation we're having tough times right now too - got a threatening letter from the power company giving us til tomorrow to pay the bill or they'd cut us off. And I won't be able to get any christmas pressies either this year (of course we'll have to find the money for J's kids to get the best of everything.....) And, wouldn't you know it, I'm having a baby too.... Keep smiling Lissel - we can wah together!!

Haha I'm the same (except not pregnant!...yet) we have been focusing on slaving away and saving to move and most of our bills are on AP except the phone which I haven't paid for two months - and each month is around $240 coz we have internet, cellphones and landline on one account... the power in this house is shocking and we pay $150 by Ap every month but are in debt to them about $700 in 6 months - and the boss won't get the house looked at (got the house with the job)...
Christmas is a non-event for us this year pretty much... no tree cause we threw it out by accident, arna is the only one getting pressents and my mum and dad are putting the guilt trip on me to spend time with them before we move
WAH WAH WAH WAH WAH

Oh me too Got the major money blues at the moment. I have just finished getting my parental leave pay so are now down to one wage and Daniel is self-employed so who knows how much we get each month Updated our budget last night and wouldn't you know it, short by about $600 a month! Xmas wise, only buying little pressies for my 6 nieces and nephews. Everyone else is getting a homemade Xmas card with some photos of Hannah. Really want to buy some lovely clothes and things for Hannah. I know she doesnt know whats going on but I still want to buy stuff!
Sorry, this is turning into a real rant! Almost 11 weeks ago my husband was kind enough (or stupid enough!) to lend a friend $3000 for this sound system thing (DJ setup) and they promised we'd get the money the next week. I said at the time it was a bad idea etc, but its a good mate (they were each others best man and stuff) and Daniel is too nice. Anyway, surprise surprise we still havent got it back They are in major financial poos and are really bad with money. Trying to sell some stuff on trade me but nothing selling. I get so mad cos they have a real flash car, SKY and heaps of HP's and stuff but cant sort themselves out to pay us back I got sooo mad the other week when his wife turned up with a new engagement ring (on HP)! ARGH!! Daniel keeps asking him about it and continues to get told that they're working on it and the stuff will sell on TM - but its not. I dont want to be friends with them anymore cos of it And to make it even worse, he is talking about leaving his job where he gets quite well paid to set up himself! I think they need to ask there parents for a loan and I'm sure they would help out, but they dont want them to know how much in the S*@T they are. I just dont know what to do about it - the money was what Daniel puts away for next years tax bill, but we still need that money.
Sorry for rambling on but it just makes me so mad and I worry about it a lot

Aimee rant all you want!! We realised the other day we have 3 fridges and freezers (stand alone ones) so sold one lot on TradeMe - also been selling Arna's old clothes etc. I am stressing cause David said hes getting a bonus from the boss and the farm owner before we leave and we are also getting a loan to move and live before our 1st paycheck (a whole month after we move in!) - But the money isnt in the account so I'm stressing.. and the car broke down on me AGAIN last night - going to cost heaps to get the electrics fixed but it only putts out when it rains...

I hate that we all have stresses right now I'm feeling sad cos we just can't get ahead, and we still pay ginormous child support and Jono still hasn't talked to his ex about cutting it back. Our little bubba is going to have to make do with all old stuff, nothing nice and new at all, and for some reason that makes me really sad We keep getting letters about unpaid bills, and now I ripped my pants and, well I'm just sad

Its things like ripping your pants that just really tops it all off aye. Clare, once bubs is born people will probably buy you lots of lovely nice clothes. I got quite a bit, but still want to buy her things myself. They say money doesnt make you happy?? Well I'd be a lot happier if I had more!

I think it was the pants that really did it!! And I so agree - a bit more money would make things much less stressful and you know what, I think Santa needs to bring us all some cash in our stockings!!

aint that the truth about being happier with more $$. I have decided that Christmas is jinxed. My car broke down!!!! Then my washing machine completely crapped out on sat so just in the middle of the laundry and bawled. The only thing i could really do at the time. As for pressies they are getting cheaper by the day. But well ppl just have to understand others situations. I have this crazy Aunty (well i have decided that she is) who doesnt even like me and she always spends heaps on pressies (mind you they are rich as) but i always feel obliged to get them something it drives me nuts. i would prefer she didnt bother as her gifts arent given in the christmas spirit.
Man Aimee i so dont blame you for being mad - i would be sooo M.A.D esp when they have all the luxuries AND a new ring!!!!! I dont know how the wife could look you in the eye with new jewerlly on. Man thats cheeky!!!
That sucks about your pants clare- that really is the sort of theing that sets you off but like aimee said once bubs is born ppl will spoil bubs and hopefully you. i dont usally buy my friends newborn bubs pressies anymore (if i do might be something like cheap little singlets) - i get the mum a pressie. Someting like a nice shower gel and lotion set and gift voucher for glassons or something. I mean she did all the hardwork!!!
Anyway Im rambling off the topic again.
I hope we all have a great chrissy and get alittle spoilt as we all deserve it

Yep things are pretty tight here at the moment as well. But at the end of this year my DH will be finished paying off his student loan. So yay we wont be skimping to make it through each month anymore. Also hoping that he will get a bonus to help pay for christmas gifts.
But do you know the good news (I had to share) His work has had a really good year and are letting all the employees choose one of these gifts.
A) Acer Desktop PC with 19" LCD Screen
B) ASUS A6L Laptop
C) DVD Home Theatre System Yamaha Harmony System
D) Philips 23" LCD Television includes Philips DVD Recorder
E) Samsung 43" Rear Projection Television Includes Philips DVD Player
F) $1500 Travel Voucher from House of Travel Includes your choice of either $100 Duty Free voucher or Free cabin bag
So generous aye, They are all things that we would never consider splurging out for ourselves so its a real treat. And a real dilemma deciding too! Im letting DH choose as he has done all the work. Cant wait to find out what he decides. Personally i would love the holiday. Ahhh to go back to Raro again.
Sorry guys i know this was ment to be a grr things suck thread but i had to share our good news.

im hoping that too!
the child support thing gets me too sometimes. I had to tell my man that while we had the boys, we didnt have to give their ma any $ considering we paid to pick them up AND drop them off ( they live in nelson and us in chch) and its only been the last 2 holidays that that has happened AND that shes paid for half the travel. AAAAAAAAAAAAND the christmas before last my man spent $700 on his 2 sons pressie and he went muh at me for spending around the same on the FIVE people in my family... ARGH! he got over that lol.
i just DONT get people who borrow money esp large sums and make no effort at all to pay it back... esp when theyre getting things they dont necesarily need, even a lil a week is good! we borrowed $500 off a really good friend of ours and we're drip feeding it back...
im more annoyed with myself for not realising earlier that i wouldnt be able to give my family the xmas i always do... lol
anywho! there is a silver lining, that big cheque is being put into my bank tomorrow am and we're getting a gst return too which is nice,,, going to pay the bills...
oh but i rant!
much love and hugses to everyone!!!
wah wah wah!!!!

i was soooo disappointed for the millenium as I had visions of Y2K bug wiping my loan.....so annoyed when it didnt....sigh. I have to admit, although xmas isn't what we wanted this year, we are doing okay. I'm making all the pressies. For the grandparents I bought cheap serving platters from farmers and some ceramic paint. Jake and I painted them and wrote "from jake" on them. Hopefully they will be appreciated. it was a b$%&ch getting jake to paint on the plates without painting everywhere.

I just have to join this ranting session...
Student loan currently at 28,000 with 4 papers still to go to finish postgrad.
Had a MASSIVE panick attack at St Lukes today in the middle of KMart in front of everyone, freaked Maya out and ended up looking like a) a real loser and b) a bad mother. Think it was a combination of Maya pushing her luck, and too many people (the mall was manic).
Have bought pressies for my family on the credit card with no idea how I am going to pay it back. My Dad has lent me some money too to help bail me out because the bills seem to just keep piling up. On the plus side, the phone and power are still on and paid up to date. On the minus side I am three weeks behind with daycare payments...
To top it all off am leaving for Australia on Tues and don't now how I am going to fit all the presents into a suitcase, it's going to be really hot there, and my family drive me nuts (it will be cool tho, seriously!)
So there you go, my contribution to the Xmas blues....
But go Maria - oh for Rarotonga!
