Hi,

We were planning to go to The Police concert on the 19th Jan (I'm due 5th Feb), it is very close to the due date.  Would the loud music be bad for the baby?  Probably not the most comfortable time to be going to a concert, just seems a shame to have to pass on the tickets.

Go for it! I think sound is generally muffled enough in there that you'll be fine... babe will probably have a boogie round!

I don't think the baby will be at any risk. Will you be standing or sitting? Is it a formal sit-down type concert? If so, it'll be easy. If it's a stand up and dance type concert, you'll have to avoid getting knocked about etc too much - but your personal comfort will dictate that.

I played in a concert with both Andrew and Josh at that far along both of them were fine, just kicked the crap out of me.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

This is hardly the same thing but I went and saw king kong the week before Jack was born. It was so loud but he was fine and just kicked the crap out of me.

I say go for it, it will be a cool story to tell bubs once he/she is older.

I went to the Cure at 28 wks, and she slept thru the whole thing. I was pleased we had nana seats though - it would have been a long time to stand (at least 3.5 hours).

A friend told me they had asked thier dr about the noise before going to a concert, and the dr said that the noise is all muted in the fluid etc, and it is nothing to worry about.

Everyone's different, I would see how bubs reacts to vibrations etc first, like in clubs. I know that the two times I've been out while knowingly pg (sober bus trip and sober clubbing - not fun at all!) I got a completely tense stomach and I felt like I was going to be sick. Baby obviously doesn't like it at all. I guess it's an individual thing.

After much discussion DH and I have agreed not to go ....  BUMMER, but he said he won't enjoy himself as he will be concerned about bub and me the whole time.  And when the tickets are $150 a pop it is probably a bit risky.  I guess beng nearly 39 weeks is pushing the limits....  And of course DH was logical and said we could buy a car seat with the money....

RachandJack - we saw The Kingdom at the movies just recently and in the first five mins a bomb explodes very loudly, I actually felt bub jolt in my tummy...  but was fine for the rest of the movie.

My DH is super sad as he is going to miss Rage against the Machine playing at the BDO....

Im due on the 14th and they play on the 18th .... so Im either going to have a 4 day old baby (which he will feel guilty about abandonining for a concert) or Ill have a gigantic tummy and be grumpy!

He lucked out big time

I was also thinking about that with fireworks displays, if its okay for the baby, cos you can feel them explode
