Poor little lucy has been throwing up since 4am, on Saturday morning, we are giving her cruskits, and water, then after a few hours, has been chucking up all of that too, even in the car today Is there anything we can do??? Taking her to the doc is not going to solve anything! Any suggestions on what to give her please!!

Okay seeing that we sit with this exact same situation this week I will tell you what we were told at A&E and the dr's office.

Dont worry if they dont eat at all. Just worry about the fluids.

Give small amounts real often. If they vomit 10ml up but you gave 20 then it is great. Just keep up with it.

Check the urine output. Even if it is a little bit it is great. If you have a few hours of no urine get her to A&E or hospital so they can rehydrate her their.

If she is still playfull great. If she goes listless or goes sleepy and you dont seem to be able to wake her up rush her to hospital.

Check her skintone. Pinch a small part of the skin. It should look really normal and the colour ect right afterward. The longer it takes to return to normal the more fluids she needs and then rather take her in.

Dont give sugary drinks at all. Lemonade and those energy drinks is actually not that good with a tummy bug due to all the sugars.

Some kids will eat yogurt and dairy and be fine while others will throw up more. Give a bit and see what happens.

Diluted apple juice is great. No citrus fruits or drinks or anything spicy. Dilute juice to at least 1 to 5 parts water.

If they dont take fluid by the cup or bottle use a syringe. But the key is small amounts really often.

We sat with like 3ml every ten or 20 minutes in the beginning. (and half of the time she still puked)

Ice blocks is great.

Also check to see if the inside of the mouth is still moist. If it isnt rather take her in.

ditto what Shirena said. We're going through the same thing and it's not nice! Been to hospital twice this week for rehydration. One minute she's fine, next minute she has a temp of 39 and is very very sleepy

She's finally started to come right today, but it is a horrid bug and I can feel the start of it in myself

It must be going round. I have just spent all of last night throwing up. Not a great experience when 30weeks pregnant so it must be so awful for the littlies. I am just hoping and praying that my 19month old doesn't get it too. I am just starting to feel a bit better. HAve kept down some crackers and a bit of toast. Hope all your wee ones come right soon.

SMoody thanks for that here's hoping that I am not going to need to use that info but I know it is here if I do.

Look after yourselves everyone.

Aw, man... I hope you're ALL better soon!

I wanted to add... Enerlyte (or Gastrolyle) if you're worried that she isn't taking enough fluid.  It treats dehydration but also prevents it.  Handy stuff.  Free on a script, too.  Aim for the fruity flavoured ones  - more palatable!
