YEah he is ok thanks, Still quite behind but getting there slowly!
he is 8 1/2 months corrected now but he is only... rolling (just learnt this week) cut his first 2 teeth and saying dad dad, and he can hold his own bottle and switch toys from hand to hand
Other wise he isn't doing anything else like sitting etc he have him in the sitting position and he just gets to tired and grumpy
Kelly, what was Ashleigh doing at this age?
Robyn, I didn't realise Kobe was prem How is you nephew doing?

Gina is a prem - she was born at 35wks 4 days. However, my midwife thinks my dates would have been wrong by 2 weeks or so as she was a good weight and length. I still think of her as my little premiie though
Aidan is such a little fighter Trish

How is your nephew doing Robyn?
Hmmm trying to remember back to June... Ashleigh has actually been quite fast with her milestones and her VNT has said she has nearly caught up to her actual age. So she starting rolling at 6.5 mths, sitting unaided at 7 mths, walking holding hands at maybe 10 mths, commando crawling at 11 mths, proper crawling 12 mths, first steps 13 months and proper walking 14 mths. She has just starting saying a few words now.
I'm still in touch with a few other mums that were in neonates with us and even though Ashleigh is nearly the youngest, she is way ahead of all of them.
How big is Aidan now? I'm just looking back at our Wellchild book and at 12 months Ashleigh was 8.15kg and 69.5cm

Yep Kobe was prem, but cos of my GD he was big so we didnt have to long in nicu.
Daniel (nephew) is doing really well now. He turned 1 in October and is crawling around and pulling himself up. Not really talking or anything though but that could be because his sisters do it all for him.

My niece was prem, she was born at 33w6d she weighed 2lb9oz hence the reason for her early arrival, she is now 4mths corrected, she weighs a little over 8lb, she is stil tiny but doing really well, she is still seing the outreach nurse from the niccu but down to monthly visits.
I have told my sis bout Oh Baby, she has lurked but never posted, but will have to tell her about this topic, she has lots of questions, so this would be a good place to come

Ashleigh did the same thing Trish, after hitting 8 months her weight really seemed to plateau (sp?) and in 7 months has only put on about 1.5kg. I have also found Plunket abit annoying in regards to her prematurity. They just don't seem to "get it". Plus after having her so closely monitered and checked, it was hard to let a few months go by without any contact. How often are you seeing your paed? We are now at 6 monthly visits and are due for our next in Dec which I'm looking forward to.

Hi ya I have a premmie although she is 2 now and doing fantastic she was born at 30 weeks gest due to leaking waters from 24 weeks and then bleeding at 30 weeks, it seemed like it took ages for her to catch up but now you so would not even know she was so little, premmies are so precious and such a gift, Makayla was 3lb1oz born.

this plunket lady is useless! everytime I find myself repeating his birth etc and she still has the cheek to say well a baby at 1 year old should be drinking 4-6 250ml bottles, sleeping through the night, crawling and sitting up unaided! no bloody wonder Im depressed when everytime shes here I have to 'relive' his horrible birth experience!'
He is having 5-6 18ml bottles and 2 solid feeds per day, the thing is he has been sick like forever and at the moment it bringing up everything after every feed, I mentioned his to my doctor who just fobs me off and says there is nothing wrong with him

My cousin was a prem, 14 years ago. He was in the newspaper as back then he was one of the youngest babies to survive. I can't remember how prem he was though. But just though I'd let you know that he's a healthy 14 year old now

Bah Pluket! Gina only gained 1/2kg between her 7 month visit and her 9 month visit and I was told off for not giving her more home cooked food! Like I haven't tried! I spoke to my GP too about the whole thing and he was way more relaxed and reasonable. I think sometimes Pluket just go too much by the book to apprecite individual differences

Thanks Tastic, I will let her know.
I know she is having some issues with her plunket nurse too, the whole she should be doing this and this by now, Paige is the 1st preemie that she has had to deal with so she doesnt understand the whole corrected age thing and it does get my sister disheartened,

Trish it sounds like you need to find another doctor!
I had trouble with my plunket nurse with Kobe too. Plus she was telling everyone about the 'poor prem baby with a cleft' which really annoyed me.
I think there must be a prem thing in my family, Kobe was 34 weeks, my niece 30 weeks then her brother 27 weeks and my step brothers wee boy was 25 weeks!
