Topic: Grr Brothers etc! Posted: 02 January 2008 at 9:06am |
DF and I live in a flat on the side of mum and dads house, its attached to their garage so to get into our place you have to go through the main house garage and then through the door into my flat.
My brothers and stuff just barge in when they feel like it, without knocking half the time! The door has a lock but why should I have to lock it all the time, they should bloomin well knock first and wait till I say come in!
A few times DF and I have been, you know having "Alone Time" and someone will barge in and walk down to my garage! Its like GEEZ do they not know of the word privacy. The flat is just basically- one room for the kitchen and living room which has nice big glass french doors which open out on the driveway(very private as we live in the country), then down a little hall and our bedroom is on the right and the bathroom on the left then theres another garage which has my dads junk in it, and my brother always needs stuff from there. I dont mind, as long as he knocks on the door! Grrrrrr
Sorry Ladies, I was just having a angus momment and needed to vent as my brother has barged in 3 times in less than five minutes! Arghhhh

Tell him he can't come in without knocking - then lock it consistently for the next couple of weeks and gradually ease off once he has walked into it a couple of times and then remembered to knock

Yeah that's pretty rude. Does he want to catch you out doing something, does he? That's how I feel when my mum just walks into our house. I like my privacy & am half the time walking round in just my top & knickers when it's hot, so if people just walk in (friends do sometimes as well) we all get a mighty fright!!
Have you said any comment to him about it? Like "do you mind? can you knock first?". I definitely wouldn't hesitate saying that to my family.

Yeah, he gets an earfull from me, I just hate it, I'll be sitting here nice and quite then enxt minute the doors opens and he comes in "I just need to get this..." "Can I borrow that.." etc
Im gonna tell him that when the baby is here that wont be happening as I dont want people trapsing down the hallway while the baby is trying to sleep.

My brother would do the same, I'd just lock up the door and be done with it. It may suck but its better than being barged in on. Eventually he will work it out.
