Just wondering, from those of you out there who have one. I had one inserted on Friday and since then have been bleeding, not as much as a period but certainly more than spotting. How long should I expect this to go on for?

TIA

Did you get the regular IUD or a Mirena?
WIth the regular IUD it is common to have bleeding (not heavy) for up to a week after insertion. With the Mirena it is common to have spotting for up to 3 months after insertion.

Yep, only a normal IUD. Have had a mirena but it gave me wikid headaches. Its certainly not a period but its heavy compared to the spotting I would have thought.

Yeah, I had that for a while after. Can't remember how long though.

I mean, it is putting something foreign right up there so it isn't surprising there is a bit of bleeding.

Did they give you an info sheet when they inserted it? I'm pretty sure I got one which detailed what was to be expected.

If you are worried then call - or you could bring it up at your 6 week check up?
