So i am on to my third pregnancy now and not once have i been advised to count my babies movements. I see the chart in the books and understand all about it but was just wondering how many of you do it and how many were never told about it?... And from what stage of pregnancy do they advise this?

I was told to do the a movement chart with all my pregnancies and if I hadnt felt movements was sent to the hosp for a ctg everytime. I cant remember the exact time I was advised to start counting but it was somewhere around 35weeks.

I just talked to a friend who is due in 12 days, and she has been told to count movements...

I was never told about it, but then I was in hospital from 35 weeks onwards with twice daily ctgs so that might be why.

From 32 weeks I was asked with Josh and it stopped at 37 weeks as I was having CTG's done every couple of days.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

I know I was asked and it had to be before 35 weeks when she was born, thinking back it must have been about 30-32 weeks

I was never asked to count movements, just MW asked if she was moving regularly.

The MW mentioned '12 movements a day' once I told her I had started feeling movements.

I was moved to the high risk Obs hospital team at 28 weeks and they wanted me to monitor movements more closely to the stage where I had to try and distinguish between both babies and get on average 4 movements from each baby an hour.

I had in total 2 weeks of hospital stay and I got 2 CTGs a day.

I was also asked if I felt lots of movements, but in the last few weeks I occasionally got the talk that if the baby moved less than 10x per day to call asap - but not exactly told to count.

I've been counting movements from when I was about 28 weeks - it gives me a peace of mind to know I can feel 10 easily when bub is active.

I asked my MW about this at my last visit and she said that as long as I feel 10 movements a day then its fine. If I dont feel anything all day then call her.

I was told at 28 weeks to count 10 movements a day and to contact mw if I hadnt reached this figure and we could go to the hospital for a ctg.

Also told that if baby did seem a bit quiet to have a cold sweet drink and sit for a little while as this would just wake baby up a bit and get them moving again.

I was told to count at about 34-35 wks but I had signs of pre-eclampsia and cholestasis so I was being monitored closely - CTG's twice a week as well.

I was told to count from 34 weeks when they realised Jack was IUGR cos he was cutting off his umbilical cord. At 38 weeks I was getting monitored and had CTG every couple of days, so I just counted in the day between. Had to feel 10 movements by 9pm.

I was never told to count as such either time, but I did subconsciously coz I knew I should. With the gremlins my Sienna was lying funny so I couldn't feel her move, the OB could see her kicking me on the u/s and yet I couldn't feel it at all so I had to have CTG's every 2 days to check on her. Mercedes was a different story, she bounced around all over the place.
