Well, in theory, I like the idea that should you become sick and the treatment render you infertile, that you have that option.   Not too sure about the whole "donor" thing, and if I *think* about it, the idea of babies frozen is kind of creepy. Also, not too sure about the whole "both partners give consent thing" now, I'm not judging here, but don't lots of women *accidently* get pregnant and keep the babies without "consent"?

Im not sure I like the idea of "frozen babies" but as jacobsmama said if something happened then having that there would be nice. If hubby had to have treatment that would make him infertile (or me for that matter) then I think we would do it but then I would feel obligated to use them all rather than destroy them and could end up with a rugby team! I wish I could donate my eggs for couples who need them but dont think I could do it, for my sisters I would do it in a heartbeat but the idea of a baby out there made with my eggs Im just not sure I could handle yet, then again how different is it from organ donation?

Yeah, but with organ donation, you (as doner) are helping someone to continue living... as an egg/sperm/embryo doner you are helping to create a NEW person... kinda like your child being raised by someone else, but that's not that different from adoption, really.

You could take this either way but for an embryo to be stored you need a egg and sperm right... so in the inital process you need both "parents" to give consent and respected parts ...
Its like saying that when a baby in concieved naturally and then the dad buggers off that the baby isnt allowed to be born cause the dad hasnt given consent.
In the case of Natalie Evans, her and her then partner (or hubby I cant remember) made the embryos together.
Now the sticky point is because the baby is in a "test tube" judges, jurors etc can decide on the fate of this non - growing fetus - If it wasn't in a test tube would the dad be going to the high court for this baby not to be born??
