What ages share rooms? Would you put a newborn in with a Toddler or would we need to have seperate rooms for them? I imagine they would definately share later on but how about when No 2 is a bub?

Ooo I'll be watching this one carefully! I really don't want to clean out my study, so want both kids to share (when #2 comes of course, still yet to convince DH!!) I don't know from experience, but we are planning on keeping #2 in our room (in a borrowed bassinett or our portacot) for as long as possible until s/he sleeps mostly through the night so Jack won't be woken up by a screaming baby. And if we go nuts with #2 in our room, s/he can sleep in the study for a while, I'm sure it won't do any harm!

My aunty had her 2nd child sleeping out in the lounge, near the hallway, under a giant clock for the first couple of months... each to their own I guess.

Would the room be big enough that you could walk in and get bubs up without Tom even noticing?

I wouldn't want to put a bubba in with Daniel. I can just imagine it screaming to be fed or whatever and wake Daniel up and then have 2 kids to get back to sleep..

I guess it would depend on the older child though. It wouldn't work for Daniel because he prefers quiet and doesn't appreciate loud noise.

I had to share a room as a kid and hated it, mine will be having seperate rooms from day one. Gotta learn from your parents mistakes.

I won't be putting bubs in with Ollie as he is a fairly light sleeper and is hard to get back to sleep once woken.

My 12year old and 16mth old share a room. She asked for him to be in her room and it has worked out great. i wouldnt have put him in there as a newborn tho as Im sure the wakefulness of him as a little one would have keep her up. Once your new one is sleeping thru the night I dont see any reason why they couldnt room share

My sister has her 2 1/2 year old and 6 month old in the same room and she said it has been heaps easier than she thought. They only have a small house and needed t0 keep their other room for an office and spare bedroom since they have a business. I shared most of the time growing up sometimes I lved it sometimes I hated it, we will see what happens when we have no 2.

My plan was for my 2 to share but they are both terrible, light sleepers who still wake at night. They wake each other up enough from seperate rooms.

You could alway have new baby in your room until old enough to share.

My brother and I shared for years ... then when Mum and Dad got a house where we could each have our own rooms ... we were too scared at night to be alont, so ended up sharing again!

That changed when we were about 10 or so then we became independant....although I still remember sneaking into Mum and Dads room in the middle of the night lol

For some people its necessity (we have too much stuff in the office/spare room) but having said that, we will move when I start working full time (probably when Jack's about 4) and both kids will have separate rooms. I never had a shared situation as a kid so don't really know, but I don't really see it as a problem when they're young.

my boys chose to share a room. when toby was about 12 mths old gabriel decided he was going to sleep in the bed that was in tobys room instead of his own room and they never wanted to go back to separate rooms. which was good cause it worked out well for us.

toby still wakes in the night sometimes and has hysterical screaming fits but it doesnt seem to bother gabriel too much. He just lies there with his hands over his ears and doesnt stir.

It really depends on the kiddies. Hannah and Kryssi have roomed together most of Kryssi's life but Hannah and Briona were never a good mix. Briona needs her personal space when she is waking or she becomes a bear with a sore head Kryssi and Hannah both wake at the same time in the morning (regardless of which bedroom), and both chirpy.

We plan to have Emma in our room until she's 9 months or so but then we plan to have the girls share a room for a little while - we'll see how we get on though as I'm not too fussed either way.

We are planning to have the twins a different room than our toddler until they no longer need middle of the night feeds and then all 3 are going to be in the same room. Or thats the plan. We need our office/spare room for our business and have no other way to fit the 3 kids in!

We have Josiah and Xavier sharing a room at the moment, and there's been no problems. We put them in together 7 months ago, when Josiah was 2y 3m and Xavier was 8m. Prior to that, Xavier had been in our room.

Our plan is for Jackson to be in our room initially then go in with the older boys once he's big enough to need to be put in the cot.

Kiya probably won't end up sharing a room with any of her brothers... for the simple reason she's 4/5.5/7 years older than them and needs some private space for her too-little-for-the-boys-to-be-allowed toys.

Bumped for Emz.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!
