ok, i have asked this in another post (threadjacking though!) and its prob been asked before, but hey.... will start it up again if it has!
i have suddenly outgrown my "normal" jeans, and feeling a bit mixed! yay that i have but argh! i really dont have anything to wear that fits now etc....

my question is about maternity pants... i havent yet gone into a shop to look for maternity pants will do that later in week (after payday) but am really sruggling with what style would be comfy etc....(i really hate shopping and trying on clothes awkward body shape i reckon) i would really love to hear what an average size person (ok around size 14, but only just lost 22kg and hadn't toned up) finds good.
i dont like the idea of having something totally covering my belly.

all i can say is argh! im not looking forward to looking!

i prefer the preggy pants that sit under my bump. i was given another pair that go right up over and find it kinda constricting. probably just because i'm not used to that style. i got some really nice egg jeans off trademe that have a soft elastic panel around the waistband, you can wear it comfortably on your bump or fold it down so it sits underneath. i dont know if this helps you at all???? happy shopping

I found some really cool maternity pants on trade me, have just given them away to sallies, wish I had known and then I would of given them to you. we are bout same size so they would of fit. Apart from that I pretty much lived in skirts as you can pull them up over the bump and they are comfortable, so I am really no help to you sorry.

I went to Dressmart and got a really comfy pair of JK pants that go about half way up (ie. cover your back when you lean over but don't cover your whole bump) and they were $70 marked down to $20.

I have a similar problem to you in that I have lost a lot of weight but still have a flabby tummy, and I've found that I am so bloated with this pregnancy that I'mnot comfortable n anything fitted. With Maya I wore my normal clothes right up until about 18 weeks, but I'm already finding maternity pants way more comfy with this bub.

one word... GLASSONS! I'm totally in love with their "yoga" pants! I've got 2 pairs of the long black ones $25 a pair and a grey and a black pair of the 3/4 length pants. Heaps cheaper than proper maternity clothes! Also we're lucky enough that the fashion at the mo is for long line tops so I've got most of my stuff from Glassons as they cheap and look good too
But, in saying that Pumpkin Patch have a lovely range, you might be able to catch the last of the summer sale (up to 60% off) before they decide its winter! (even tho saturday was 25oC Soooo hot!)

For the more expensive stuff like jeans ($70 in PP) I'd have a look on Trade Me.

Hope that helps

I had a pair of pants that were from PP that were meant to come up over my bump (or atleast half way) but that was waaaay too hot and felt restricting so I just folded it down anyway.

Skirts might be the way to go??? i had quite a few elasticated waist skirts that were so comfy

I had some jk jeans with the elastic top, but far preferred a pair of glassons hipster jeans or pans in one size up from normal. And like Toni said their long line tops are stretchy and perfect for maternity stuff. Cheap too so it doesnt matter too much if it gets stretched.

I envy all you that can still shop at glassons. I was a 20 in pants before I get preggers and am now find it EXTREMELY hard to find pants or skirts to fit, or that will last the rest of my pregnancy, I'm 17 weeks. If anyone can help me out, I'd REALLY appreciate it.

I'm normally a size 14-ish (or L, never M, unfortunately!), and haven't started showing yet at 12 weeks... I'm scouting around for bargain maternity clothes so I don't have to do a big shop all at once when I need them. I'm finding it hard to gauge the sizes I'll need though. Can anyone advise me on how fruitful/useless is is to buy any maternity clothes before being able to fill them out in the changing rooms? I'm wondering if it's just best to wait and see where I put the weight on, now.

And what's the deal with all these incredibly low-necked maternity tops?!? Anyone would think we're all trying to show off our swelling boobies to the entire world! Great if you suit the look, but not for those of us suddenly struggling with teenage-like skin problems thanks to bubs, or who want to be a bit discreet and hide our nipples, etc from the nation! Crikey.

lol, i havent actually looked at tops yet, so havent noticed the low necks! but i understand what you mean.
i was given my jeans when i was really early on (well under 10 weeks preg as my sis got them on special for me and was leaving for aussie and wanted to get me some) anyways they dont fit now, and its too late to swap them, i guess thats a danger in getting things too soon.
i'd wait if you can.... just put money aside now, to help out.
im almost 18 weeks and still wearing my size 14 jeans but they are uncomfy and have to undo top button... still havent gotten around to shopping yet (ended up sick last week) but my bump seems to vanish at times! i never get really big pregnant though.

thanks for all the advce so far from everyone!
i might have to check out house of g for some of those long tops.

At first I liked preggy pants to go under my bump, but now I can do with all the support I can get!! I would suggest to get a couple of pairs, and just switch them round all the time. Works for me!! But actually, at the moment I am loving a couple of skirts I got given. Strange, given I was a jeans and heels gal before pregnancy.....

Krazybabe, I'm an 18, and I fit the PP and JK maternity pants. Also have a couple of those skirts that becs (Xandersmum) mentioned from the Warehouse. And when I was preggy with Maya I bought a pair of sz 22 and a pair of sz 24 black stretch bootleg leggings from the Warehouse for $20 a pair and lived in them.

hi mummies,
i took myself shopping last friday and found some really comfy but styley trackies at supre for $32. they are really low sitting so perfect for under the bump with a long top and come in really nice colours too. their sizes go from xxs-xxl and because they're so low i'll be able to wear them after pregnancy too.
