Topic: pregnancy and cats Posted: 22 March 2006 at 4:45pm |
my female cat has gone strange on me, since sunday she will actively sort me out, and sit on my lap or as close to me as possible, and not matter how much bubs moves she doesnt move. (which she use to do)
and milly (the cat) also wont let our male cat near me if she is around.
i wonder if my cat is trying to tell me something.

aww that's so cute! i've heard that cats are particularly sensitive to preggy related things, they can sense stuff.
maybe she knows the time is getting nearer........

thats so cute! we had a cate when i was preggy with my first and he used to love sitting against my bump. i assumed it was because he liked the warmth of her but now that you mention it he was REALLY annoyingly clingy in the days up until i went into labour. perhaps they know more than we think???

I personally believe that cats are *very* sensitive to the things going on in their humans' lives, more so than we really give them credit for. I also strongly believe in the 'therapeutic' value of cats, I have had them all my life and couldn't imagine living without one. I would definitely say that your cat is also becoming / has become a bit maternal Kazzle and trying to be protective in her own kitty way, especially with bubs arrival being so close !

When I went into labour with Kiya, my sister's cat would sit up and stare at me intently 30 seconds before each contraction started. Nala would then keep watching me until the contraction ended, then would lie down again. Once I figured out what was going on, I just kept an eye on the cat and she gave me enough warning to get up off the couch before a contraction hit!

Even our household kitties have become more clingy already, especially when I lie down for a nap.
This is Nina ("my" kitty)...
This is Maddy ("his" kitty)...
And this is Possum (the baby, and "our" kitty)...
I had another kitty, BooBoo, but she lives with my mum now since our old kitty from Canada died (Charlotte, she was over 18 !!) a couple of years ago.
I love them all to bits though

oh do you guys want to picture somthing funny.
i needed to go loo last night and i had to crawl from the bedroom to the toliet, because she was pressing so hard down on my pelvis that i couldnt walk until i had emptied my bladder.
i must have made a funny sight.

Ok not only cats but dogs are the same. My frind has a dog and every time we went to his place he would jump all over me and try and play with me....but after I got pregnant he would look at my tummy and sit next to me. I was like "whats wrong with him?"....but as soon as I had Zaara he is back to his normal self!!
I love dogs!
