Topic: baby boy name Posted: 06 September 2003 at 7:10pm |
Hi. I am 32 weeks pregnant and do not know the sex of the baby as it has conveniently had its legs crossed for five different scans. Mothers instinct however tells me I am having a boy. My partner and I have selected a name for a girl - Lily but we are having real trouble with a boy's name. We would like something not too common but not too unususal. We have toyed with the idea of Riley, Caleb or Ashton. Could I please have some ideas of other boys names out there or your thoughts on these boys names?
Thanks. It would be much appreciated

Hiya,
My partner and I love the name Ashton, hence it's our choosen boys name! But myself and everyone else around me thinks i'm having a girl! So obviously my choice there would be Ashton!
I also really love the names Jacob and Owen :)
Happy hunting!

Hi
When I was pregnant with my son (Jack) I had a 1st name and 2 middle names picked out for a girl and only a 1st name picked for a boy after he was born I called him Jack Wyatt although I really liked the name Riley (partner didn't). Now I'm expecting my 2nd baby and can't think off anymore boys names I like that haven't already been used by family already or that my partner likes aswell however if it's a girl I still have the same names picked as we had before.

Good name choice we have decided to call our boy caleb as well, which is really strange as we thought that it wasn't a very common name. His middle name will be the same as his fathers which i think is a really special thing you can do for the father of your boy. Have you considered doing this? after all we get to look after them for the first nine months of their lives.

If we have a boy we will be using my husbands first name (John) as the middle name, or if it is a girl we will use my middle name (Elizabeth) as her middle name as it has been going through my family for a few generations now.

if it is a boy we are going to use my grandfathers name as a middle name and if it is a girl my grandmothers name. I think it is really nice to give them a family name

Hi there
Well - When i was having my first child, the midwife, my doctor, my mum and all her friends (all from the old school) all said i was carrying a boy... my sis did the wedding ring and strand of hair thing and it to said a boy.... we did not want to find out from the scans but thought that everyone can not be wrong - but the thing was we only had a girls name... we could not come up with a boys name. so when i gave birth and the midwife told my husband to have a look and tell "mum" what it is, he had a very shocked look on his face.. as he said "it's a Girl?" So our first child was a girl - we had chosen Tori and she got my middle name as her middle name and our surname is Wright.... so Tori Fleur Wright came in as a girl much to EVERYONES astonishment... then i was preg with my second about 3 years later this pregnacy was totally different.. i had morning sickness (which i did not have the first time) i was "carrying" differently and i wanted different foods... so we thought it was a boy... we only had a boys name.... so we thought that will be it - and the middle name will be the same as the fathers middle name, then we thought - that the "boys" name will be quite cool for a girl aswell... so we thought of a middle name for that one... birth time came.. and it was a girl (WOW) so Dyon (pronounced dion) Aiesha (pronounced i e sha) Wright was born - again to everyones horror.....
Well - now i am 9 1/2 weeks preg with my third and again we have a girls name picked ( Payge Xanthe)and we are deciding on the boys name (between Rene and Korbin) with yes you guessed it the middle name the same as my husbands.
So you can never tell - and i think your best clue is the name you find easiest to come up with is the one you will have.....
Tell me what you think of my names.. it would be great to hear back from people

I named Maya after my favorite poet Maya Angelou, and her first middle name Grace because I liked it. Her Maori middle name, Te Irirangi Marama is after her Dad's sister (he picked it) and means the place where heaven and earth meet.
Maya Grace Te Irirangi Marama Davis.
My 10 year old isnamed after her dad's mum who was Mona Tewhaea, but they were drunk when they registered her birth, and they thought Mona-Lisa sounded good so she is MOna-Lisa Tewhaea Davis.

Wow theres some really nice names on this topic..
Im now 16 weeks pregnant and have my scan on 5 august to find the sex, We have KAYLIN GAVIN (my late uncle) ROBERT (babys fathers middle name) as our boys name and KAYLAH ISOBEL (my late nanas name) ROSE as a girls name. I first wanted Faith or Clayten but my hubby to be and babys father didnt agree.
I also like Constance, Destiny, Jaymie for girls and I havent found any other boys names I like but now Ashton seems really nice...
