    Posted: 13 April 2008 at 5:07pm
When DF and I were driving home from his parents today I suddenly got a period like cramp under my bump in the pelvic area and the the pain went round to my lower back, it lasted about 10 seconds Id say.
It felt like the cramps I got when I had my m/c, which my MW said were contractions as my uterus expelled the sac etc.
So should I just keep an eye on it? I havent had anymore just the one....so I dont need to ring my MW or anything? Sorry, it just gave me a bit of a fright

Yeah I just rested when I got home, and havent had anymore of them. If I get anymore I'll give my mW a bell and see what she says.

Yip that sounds like a contraction. Its probably your body just testing itself out. If they keep coming at regular intervals or if you have any bleeding or waters leaking ring your midwife asap. Prem labour doesn't always feel the same as full term labour. You will probably find you get more and more as you get further along as your body starts gearing up, its exciting tho means its getting itself ready

Sounds like a nasty BH, I had them something wicked with the gremlins from 30-odd weeks, I got them every 10 mins and they were strong enough for a CTG to pick up, but still BH as they weren't actually doing anything. I've been getting them again this time for the past couple of weeks and they are ouchy, but I'm not as worried as I was with the gremlins, with them I was sure it was a sign they'd come early but they didn't so now I think it's just everything getting ready.

Rach is right tho - if you have an leaking or anything call your m/w and if they do get regularish then might be worth getting checked out just in case.

LOL Bobbie, might be an idea

Okays thanks guys, I havent had anymore of them, just the one, and Ive got no bleeding or leaking so thats good. Although I am getting some tightenings across my tummy tonight, but no cramps this time, so i think Im just having the normal BH contractions now.

Scary when that happens huh? I was in the supermarket last week and got an almighty one that I had to get mum to get a chair for me to sit down! It was horribly painful :/ I get the normal little tightenings all the time tho, specially when i've been walking around a little bit. Some are painful, some arent :D i'm just glad I havent had anything like the supermarket incident again!
