So I'm just wondering what time everyone's babies go to bed..
I'm talking Hannah's age...
She'd normally go down at 9:30 and sleep until 5, but she's started waking at 2, then 5.
Would it help if I put her down earlier?

I know every baby is different, but it seems I'm getting a lot of advice from different sources saying 9:30 is too late for bubba to go down for the night.

Rowan goes down at 7-7:30. But I can't help with whether putting her to bed earlier will make a difference.

Yeah Spencer started going to bed at about 7pm around that age, up until then though he use to cluster feed so would go to bed at about 9.30pm, so maybe she has just got to the age where she needs to change and go down earlier.
Also the waking could be the 3 month growth spurt happening a little early.

At that kind of age Luke was going down around 8pm, then we just kept working earlier (he now goes down at 6pm). But I did discover that it didn't matter what time I put him down, he still woke at the same time...

DH and I really enjoy the baby free time that we get with an earlier bedtime...

Ours go to bed at about 9:30 as well. This is because they sleep downstairs during the day and we all go to bed together at the same time.
Also we still have to feed them after 5 hours so until we can stop that we'll keep the current routine as is

Mine all went down at 7pmish at Hannah's age, then I'd wake them for a dream feed at 10.30pm. Well not wake them as such, but you know what I mean.

I don't think 9.30pm is too late tho, whatever works best for you guys as a family.

Kryssi would cluster feed from 8-10pm until she was about 3mos old, and then it gradually cut back until 8pm and now 6.30pm.

Ella has always gone to bed around 7 (atm is around 6.30ish). We had a rough routine (i.e. milk, bath, milk then bed) going from her first week- we found it helped settle her and once I got it set up I felt a lot more confident about what we should be doing.

Bella goes to bed between 6.30 and 7pm. We found that no matter what time she went to bed (within reason!) she would wake up round the same time. She used to go to bed a bit later but we gradually crept the bed time by 15mins earlier every couple of nights.
As other have said, it is realy nice to have that time with just yourself and DH and feel normal again.
KA, you could try a routine. I think that is what made Bella such a good night sleeper (or maybe just a coinkidink )

At two months I wouldn't be worrying about a strict bedtime routine. Cooper at that age was going to bed anytime from 9-midnight. At four months (while the big kids were on holiday) I became more determined to get him into a better routine, and it worked.

Put Hannah to bed for the night when YOU think it's right, don't worry about other people saying that it's two late. They don't know her during the night routine.

Putting her to bed earlier won't necessarily help because you may find that she will start waking just as you about to go to bed, which is what Cooper started doing, hence the midnight bedtimes. Slowly but surely she will start to establish a better bedtime... You are doing the right thing for you guys right now, so stick with that.

Thanks for all your replies.
So helpful
I think we'll just stick to what we're doing for now as she's bound to hit the 3 month growth spurt (if not already).

At that age Daniel was going down around 7:30ish after a couple of hours of cluster feeding. But before 3 months we switched to 6:30.. which he still does and it's bliss!

I was the same with Jack we didn't even hav a hint of a routine until we started solids. If it works keep doing it

You may find Charly she starts bringing it forward herself. I can't keep Caprece up past 7 now no matter how hard I tried but I'm pretty sure it didn't start getting earlier until she dropped her cluster feeding ao maybe around 4/5 months?

I haven't tried any routines as such.  Daniel made his own it used to be that he was going down at around 9.30 - 10.00 but in the last week he has decided 7.00 - 7.30 sleeps for about 4 hours then up again and then sleeps till 6.00 - 6.30, feeds and sleeps again till about 9.00 - 9.30.  He's set this all by himself!

My mw said to me that routines are useless until they are about 4-5 months old, that way you know more about their feeding habits and then is a good time to put them into a routine.

We haven't had a strict routine, Ava settled into it herself and we just went with it, it suited us! She gos down about 7-8pm.

At 2 months old she was going down at 10pm, waking at 3am and then 7am.

Go with the flow and you might find she settles into a routine that suits her and you guys!

Best of luck

Charly, totally do whatever works for you. For ages we tried the whole in bed by 7, dream feed at 10 thing - he was waking at about 3am and then about 6am.

So we decided to try something different - now we have 'day time' naps until about 8pm, then he stays awake and at about 9pm we start his bedtime routine (bath, massage, feed etc) and in bed at about 9.30pm. He sleeps from then til about 6/6.30am, and then goes straight back to sleep after a feed til about 9am. It's so much better! The other night he had a big long sleep at 7pm and didn't wake up, at first I was gonna wake him but then he was so deep asleep so I put him into his pjs and clean nappy without him waking him. He also had a big dream feed. But whaddya know, he woke at 2am and 6am. So we won't be making that mistake again - I think my boy really needs that long awake time and to go down later... all babies are different, just do what works for you and know you're not the only one who's bubba goes to bed later!

Oh and as he gets older we will try gradually making his bedtime 15mins earlier to see if it affects his waking time or not.

Kylah goes down at 7pm, and always has. It works for us as we like the evening to ourselves. I have friends who have a 10month old and they put him down at 10pm so they can sleep in because he wakes at 10am. But they dont work, so i guess it works for them
