When you are not satisfied with customer service, will you complain about it?
Its taken me a long time to get the confidence to voice my complaints but I'm always so glad when I do!
We had a really disappointing experience when we went out for DH's birthday the other night and I spent a couple of days stewing about it until I decided it was worth letting them know how let down we felt.
It was so worth it! I got an immediate response and an apology, as well as vouchers to make up for it.
The manager seemed genuinely glad to know about it too which assuaged the guilt I always feel when whinging!

So do you speak up when you get bad service? And what about when you get really excellent service? Do you tell them how great it is?

Yes, i do.. I generally tell them straight away that i have had bad service from them and do it in such a way that is polite but shows my displeasure..

Yeah I do. Sometimes I get a favourable response other times they don't seem to care.

Ooo I remember this same sorta thread a couple of months ago! Yeah I generally do - in a polite way. I like to give them the opportunity to make things right.

I once went to a very flash dinner, we were entertaining some overseas collegues, so the group of 12 of us went to a very very expensive viaduct restaurant. During the course of the evening the waiter dripped red wine down my shirt, the food took forever (really long even for a big group) and the waiting staff were just generally a bit cr*p. We prob spend over $2k on food and wine, and I really thought it was unacceptable, so I wrote to them complaining and it took them a long time to repsond, but when they did all I got was a lukewarm apology and that was it. Pretty disapointing.

Most times I will complain, but often I will let DH do it, but sometimes he can get a bit worked up so we will just leave it. I do get peeved when you are spending a lot of money and the service is rubbish.

Always!!! I call and complain if our bread is mouldy, milk is sour, if anything I buy isn't up to scratch, and if we are out anywhere I will complain about bad service too

Sometimes I get freebies out of it, other times they don't seem to care. And I definitely don't go back anywhere that I have had bad service unless I have to!

Always here too! DH is very non-confrontational and is highly embarrassed when I speak up. I have no problem letting people know how I feel, especially when it comes to crap service or poor quality of something!

Most people in my experience have thanked me for my feedback!

Yep I definately complain ... Ive even been known to go through the whole management structure till I get high enough for them to have the authority to make me happy!

I don't but I often should.

I just know I don't want people to think I am looking for freebies because I have dealt with people like that at restaurants and basically you can tell the sort as soon as they walk in!

I do however, reward excellent service.

I always do.

I worked in complaints for my company for a long time and even went on a course called "a complaint is a gift" which is true, it's an opportunity for the company/restaurant/individuals to improve and to create a loyal customer - if they don't do anything about it that's their problem.

Yep I do all the time. I feel they do need to know that they haven't performed to the customers expectations.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

hmmm sometimes I do, other times if i dont really think its that worth it, i just let it go.
A lot of the time it depends on my mood though (if AF is visiting...watch out !)

Yes and yes. I worked in customer service all thru high school and uni and I am a great believer that the customer is always right, so if somethings not right, I do complain. Credit where credit is due tho - if someone does something right I always make a point of mentioning it too.

Whereas I am a believer that the customer is sometimes a complete idiot.  I don't do so well working in customer service!! 

I don't complain if it's crap service but the staff were obviously over-stretched.  I complained at the last restaurant I ate at, because it was a nice place, but my chicked was a tough as old boots.  Their service had been excellent though, so I mentioned that too.  Got a free drink - they'd offered to 'fix' the chicken too but as it was over-cooked they couldn't have done anything so I said no.  I've sent a meal back for being horribly undercooked, too - I was preggers at the time and couldn't risk half-raw salmon!  I'm reluctant to be tooooo fussy with sending food back - as Dr. Phil said 'you'd eat a lot of spit'!

Nope, too non-confrontational and shy here. Tho I know I should, I just find it too hard. I feel too nervous even to phone. Obviously in the minority tho looking at the answers on here.

I don't mind complaining if it is justified but I NEVER remember to compliment when it is warrented! Which is something that I must get into the habit of doing more often.

ok so this thread might help me (sorry to thread jack but...) i was at a work lunch the other day down the strip (where the restaurants and pubs are in chch CBD) and an older lady say in her 50's really well dress mutton dressed up as lamb type walked out and i noticed she had something tucked under her arm. From where i was sitting i noticed it was a dog!!! I said to the others, did you see that lady etc... and one of them had seen her come from out the back so she must of had the dog either in the kitchen or office area which i thought was sooooo gross. I saw her walk it across the road where it obviously peed and then she walked down the alley way to the back of the restaurant again. Are they even allowed animals in restaurants? I was going to complain but i didnt know who to complain to cos she was probably the boss.
