Hey Ladies, Can anyone tell me about 3D/4D scans. We are wanting one. How many weeks and did you have the option  of having one of these instead of a normal scan. |

one of those would be great? Do you know if you can get them in Wellington or Palmerstin North? Do they cost more than the normal scans?

I had mine for my anatomy scan (20wks), but they don't do it in 4D mode for the whole thing, just for a few minutes, because I think it is easier / faster for them to check all the parts with the regular type of scan. It didn't cost me any money with my midwife's referral, and it was at Auckland X-ray in Mt Eden.

I had mine down at 18 weeks at Auckland x-ray services as well. It's only free with a referal and for your anatomy scan.   I think it's $80 if your later into your pregnancy.

Mine was exactly the same - It was actually still hard to see the baby clearly in the 4D scans because the placenta was in the way. She said if I was further along the 4D's would have come out better.
By the way, apparently there is a surcharge of $30 for the scans at Auckland X-Ray now so it's no longer free..

I will be getting a 3-D scan. They do them at Hamitlon Radiology and said the best time is at about 30 weeks because by this stage the face is a lot clearer. I think i will get it at about 31 weeks. I got a little card from them. Perhaps you should the place where you get your scans and see if they do them.

Hey there. Will ask midwife today but I live in the Tauranga region, Bay Of Plenty. Maybe I can travel to Hamilton. It would be worth it.
