Same as Mel. My vision goes blurry, my head throbs, I get nauseous and often my hand/lip go numb. Once my vision clears, I tend to muddle my words and make no sense for an hour or so. For a few days after my head hurts if I bend over or move to quickly.
I made the mistake of trying some fish oils yesteday and bingo - have a migraine today. They say fish oil helps but it causes migraines for me. I had a hideous one today.

The best thing for it is to sleep.

Some migraines are focal i.e. include a visual aura. Others are just a nasty headache. I only get focal migraines so can't help with the others.
Rest is the best thing. Coffee helps mine too but for some people coffee is a trigger.

Above the eyes can also relate to a stress headache, which wouldnt' surprise me with the amount of stuff you've got going on.

I spoke to my friends mum who suffers from them aswell and she thinks I have one. So I have made an appointment with my dr for Monday to see what I can get form them. As she mentioned a drug that is good for them.

Migraine medication made me feel . I find nurofen plus works best but there is no subtitute for resting in a dark room I'm afraid.

There's a couple of options and I've been on them:
Tilcotil (can also be injected if it's really bad).
Imigram (sp) This is more of a preventative.
Paradex (like taking lollies for me).

I was told Paradex is good to take .
I actually think that I have been having them for years and it is only now that I have thought anything different of them.

My mum takes Paradex and she's fine with it, helps with her aches... just not me. The Nurofen Migraine aren't too bad. Quite quick acting.

I took panadol at 7pm and it has done nothing so I am going to take some codine as that is all I have in the cupboard that I can take.

Migraines for me start with a stiff neck feeling, like I've slept funny on it... then it moves in behind my eye and usually gets to the point where it feels like someone is squeezing my eyeball from the inside. I also get overwhelming tiredness and occasionally a real sensitivity to light... oh and I vomit!
Usually after the puking bit I sleep and after that the pain has gone - just a bit groggy. Panadol does absolutely nothing, if I take nurofen early enough it'll mute things so I can still function but the best thing I've used has been voltaren suppositories - not the most pleasant thing to 'administer' but apparently the pain relief enters your system faster this way as blood vessels are very close to the surface here!

I was given Brufen Retard for mine (Dr was very quick to assure me that it doesn't mean I'm a retard )
Its a slow release tablet which seems to work pretty well for me, so long as I take them quickly enough when I feel it starting.

I haven't had a decent migraine for a while but mine are like Fiona's. End up with me not being able to talk or make any sense of anything anyone is saying to me and the only thing that fixes it is sleeping in a dark room (dosed up on drugs - nurofen plus, paramax (?), or panadeine all do OK)
Doing anything that involves eye strain, watching tv, reading, knitting, or computer work only makes things a lot worse.
I also get bad headaches and have to avoid all of the above, take drugs and drink an awful lot of water.

Hope you're in bed now Becks. I've been getting some really bad headaches lately and they are from gluten You got blood tests for all that after the hospital talk though, didn't you?
