Hi

My DS has four teeth, two on the top and two on the bottom. I'm finding when I BF I can really feel the top teeth . My DS has also started raking his teeth along my nipple when he unlatches (not always but sometimes when I least expect it!).

I've tried getting him to relatch to correct the positon (so I can't feel the top teeth so much), but that doesn't seem to work.

How do you guys deal with top teeth and BFing?

Jack started teething at 5mths and has 16 teeth now! I only stopped bf about a month ago so fed for a long time with teeth.

At one stage I could feel Jack's teeth and when he unlatched I would often see teeth indentations on my breast. At one stage I even ended up with little sores which I think were because his teeth rubbed. It took me a while but I realised, with some help, that the only time this happened was when he was feeding but not really hungry so he was really just mucking around. I ended up dropping a feed or two (he was on 3 solids meals a day at this stage) and it pretty much stopped.

Is it possible that your son it's really hungry when this happens and he is just mucking around?
Lindsey

OUCHIES! No suggestions here as I always told myself I would stop breast feeding as soon as teeth became an issue.. as it was she didn't get any until a month an a half after giving it up

My little girl is almost seven months and she has got two bottom and two top teeth. She only really bit me a couple of times when she was teething and very sore and wanted to bite onto something

But I also can feel the top teeth almost permanently while feeding and also sometimes have indentations. It's not nice but I haven't found a way to avoid it. She seems to go through a growth spurt too, so hungry all the time.

Sorry, it's not really a good advise but I am in the same boat and will watch this forum.

I'm having the same problems, I can't figure out if I've got a crack or sore from her teeth. The only thing I would really suggest is take him off as soon as he stops drinking and starts mucking around. Also you could try putting your finger between his gums so he can't shut his teeth to rake along your nipple.

Caleb often does this during the last part of a feed when he's still feeding but not starving as such. I think when he's fulled his tummy he must loosen his grip a bit (if that makes sense). I take him off now when this happens, but he's nearly one and having three meals plus snacks a day so doesn't really need it. I can't really advise you on a younger baby.

Thanks guys. I'm finding it slightly better if he opens his mouth really wide and takes a lot in (if that makes sense). It also does seem to happen when he is coming close to finishing a feed. Might have to cut his feed short.
