Breast pumps

We have an avent isis and loooove it. I got it second hand so wasn't too costly. I actually found the manual a pain in the bum. The electric was great. I used it to express off dream feeds for hubby to give

I used Stacey's Avent and loved it - I used both manual and electric.

I had the manual Avent with Zamara and it worked well - at one point was using it once a day, but usually it was less frequent than that.

I used the single Electric Avent Isis when I had all the feeding issues with K, and it was even better I liked that it had a battery pack so it travelled really well, didn't need to be hooked to mains power etc.

I then bought the Avent Isis Duo as our feeding issues were continuing, and it was a complete and total lifesaver - comfortable, quiet, easy to use, and I could get 300mls in 10 minues.   That said, I wouldn't recommended it to anyone but those planning on expressing the majority of feeds, as the cost is seriously prohibitive, and the single is fine for less-frequent expressing.

I asked this question a couple of years ago and the best advice I had was to price them up and look at rental options and then wait and see what I needed.

I would have bought a manual one, but as I ended up express feeding for 6 months glad I held off and got a medela electric one, from Trade Me I just bought new disposables for the pump.

You may not need one at all, hand expressing may suit what you need

I have an avent and a medela.  The manual medela was a 2 handed thing which was a pia but you can turn it into an electric easily.  That was really good when I was expressing off one side and feeding off the other because my baby encouraged the let down and the pump just had to extract the milk.

Once I went back to work the medela wasn't doing it for me so I got a manual avent and found it heaps better.  I'll probably use my avent next time around.

I had problems breast-feeding my first, not for lack of milk...it was a latching on problem, and I'd like to have a pump on hand right from the start as my 'back up' this time...I know the electric pumps are faster and easier, but since I don't know whether or not I'll need it at all yet...it's quite a lot of $ to spend when it could potentially be wasted.
If I end up exclusively express feeding again, then I'll buy the electric at the time. I guess the manual would do the job until then...if I had to do it...? Otherwise I'll probably just use it so that hubby can take a night feed every now and then!

Sounds like the same one I rented Tishy.

There's still a good chance you'll be able to successfully feed this bub Bubnumber2, the gremlins were a nightmare to feed and never latched well, yet Chiara came out sucking and is going brilliantly which has made all the difference.
