This is really bad but I can't stop eating at night time. I eat anything and everything I am just really hungry. I eat during the day, I have a good breakfast and lunch and a decent dinner and snacks inbetween but once the boys go to bed I can't stop eating.
Any ideas to stop me eating so much at night please.

I feel exactly the same, half my evenings are spent staring into the pantry.
We just never buy food I crave in the evenings so I can never find anything to eat. Drives me crazy though. I find brushing my teeth soon after dinner helps a little cos I find I dont want to disturb my minty fresh breath

I brush my teeth at Michaela's bedtime so generally I don't want to eat after that.
If that doesn't work for you then prepare some healthy snacks so that when you're eating it on good stuff like carrot sticks, celery or apple slices

I to seem to go through stages of staring endlessly into our fridge or rumaging through cookbooks to see what I can russle up. However, when it really starts to bug me that I'm doing this (I'm milking it whilst BF...baby needs it) then it only takes 2-3 nights with strong will power to sustain from eating to break the habbit.

I asked my weight loss buddy about this a few weeks ago, as I get hungry around 9ish, she suggested having nuts or a scroggin type mix (that can be really filling). Try to stay away from sugary foods. What time do you have dinner?

Quite early as I sit at the table with the boys to eat so they get into some good habits it is usually around 5pm.
I usually reach for the savoury foods (normal of me) so the chippies, crackers etc.

Savoury is bad! Chips etc try and stay away from those.

Ok ideas for snacks:
1) Unlimited Vege sticks (capsium, celery,carrot) and 4T hummus
2) Unlimited Vege sticks and unlimited salsa
3) 2 c popcorn (natural or Kettle Corn)
4) 1 piece of any fruit (e.g. banana, apple, kiwifruit or ½ c frozen berries or pottle of fruit)
5) 1 pottle of yoghurt (preferably low fat)
6) Weight Watchers muesli bar (avoid most of the others as they are very high in calories, fat and sugar)

I now feel very conscious about what I'm eating at nights after reading this thread and working out that since dinner at 6pm I have had 6 slices of jelly slice (all about 5cm squared)....once I start I can't stop.
mummy_becks, interested in buddying up for a week of hard yarns with a battle of will power in overcoming those after dinner cravings?

LOL I am reading this whilst eating Corn chippies and drinking coke... not a good role model to give advise but normally when we are craving something this late its cause your body needs proteen - so a banana - and a drink of water - actually when i had gd when pregnant when i craved at night the no no foods I got water and ice and drank heaps - stopped the craving

LOL i jsut had a huge piece of cake I think its a winter thing as well I tend find I want to eat alot in the winter at the moment. Only problem I have is the heartburn. And I have no pictular preferance to sweet or savoury as long as its food.

I have just hunted out all my vita quenches (Nigel got a heap of them from the army), so I have made a few up and tomorrow night I am just going to drink them instead of eating.
That would be good to buddy up for the week.

Well, tonight has been so kaotic that I didn't get round to having dinner till 7.30 so should be a breeze to make it through the remainder of the night without picking  .

I am having my last snack of some dark M&M's and then that is it. I have my bottles in the fridge for me as well.
