Topic: oh my back Posted: 11 May 2006 at 2:59pm |
K so I am not one to complain too much when I am sore, but this is driving me nut's I don't think I have hurt it its just constanlly sore. I never had this with Alan. This baby is much lower then Alan was has anyone got any suggestion's on what I can do to relieve the pain I have tried my wheatpack, but that did not seem to help. See the midwife next week so wil ask her if it is still playing up I really don't think i could stand another 16 weeks of this.

Im like that too. Everytime I get up I feel crippled. Cant straighten my back and have sciatica also. Midwife didnt tell me how to relieve it. I use wheatpack but found tiger balm worked wonders and got to sleep finally. Hope Im allowed to use tiger balm.

You could try some yoga exercises? I have also been getting a lot of back pain and later this month start pregnancy yoga classes - I have been told that this helps with back pain.

Warm showers with the nozzle directed at the sore parts of your back are good. I had tried a warm bath but almost did my back in completely when trying to get out of the thing!
I've found that propping myself up on pillows (beneath my back and imbetween my knees) takes the pressure off a little when I am in bed too - of course, that doesn't leave much room for hubby.
Is antiflamme okay to use when you're pregnant?
Oh - and if it's really bad, a sports physio I went to a while back used TENS...

i've had a few bad days with my back lately too. i found lying flat on my back on the floor for a couple of minutes (until other parts start hurting!) really eased the pain. that and getting down on all fours for a couple of minutes alternately arching my spine and then letting baby 'hang'.
hope you guys feel better soon!

Things I've been using for my sore back:
Physio, wheat bag, special 'exercises' (given by physio), tiger balm, sitting on a swiss ball for 'better' posture, warm showers, and panadol.
Good luck with getting that sorted out, I know how unpleasant it can be, mine used to lock up so badly sometimes I would need to ask hubby to help me shuffle down the hallway to the toilet !

Hey Alan and Bubbles mum,
Glad that your back is better today - must be a relief for you! Yip I hope that this wheat pack will do some wonders otherwise if that doesn't work then the yoga classes hopefully. It's a little scary to think that at this stage I am getting back pain and I am not quite half way through yet!
