Oh Baby! Etiquette

Hello ladies!

I was wondering about the etiquette for these forums. Do people want to be called by their real names when they've put their real names in their profile? I feel silly calling people by their tags but wonder if it's considered rude to check out their profile for their real name. Since I haven't chosen an anonymous tag, I get called by my name either way, but I can understand people wanting to keep their real name off the web!

Also, when someone has a link to their webpage on their profile, is that an invitation for people to have a look at it? I figured if people didn't want others they'd met on this site to see their webpage they wouldn't have a link to it listed in their profile, but that said, it seems a little creepy for people you don't really know to look at your website! I looked at a website for someone whose post I was replying to, as she knows, but I would really like to know what the etiquette is for this stuff!

I've got the 'what if I figure out who someone here is and they don't know' one sussed already... INTRODUCE YOURSELF when that happens!! I got to swap e-mails with a lovely friend of a friend after that.

Personally, people here call me by my name because that's my tag also, and I like that (but can understand others wanting to be more anonymous, and for that reason I don't have a webpage, or much info about myself in my profile).    

So, people with webpage links, people with different names here than on their profile - what say ya all?

Generally, if someone has put their real name in their signiture, I call them that, otherwise I go with their tag. There are a couple of exceptions, but they are ladies that have been on here longer than me (which is coming up two years) so I've gotten to know them a bit.

I figure, if it's in the profile or signiture, then it's fine to view their website. If someone doesn't want it seen, they can remove the link easily enough.

My name is kinda my name but altered slightly. I dont look at others sites unless they want me to and the fact that i used to be on dial up and it would take forever lol

Well my user name is truly anonymous! I'm pretty sure if they'd had an address and phone number option I probably would have put that in too!!!

Call me naive but I'm not so worried about anything on here. Maybe I've just got nothing to hide

I make a point of trying to find out people's real names (or preferred nickname if they don't want to disclose) as I feel silly using usernames. Often check someone's profile and use it even if they haven't introduced themselves... I hope no one minds that!!!

My website is on my profile so that anyone can look at it - I take any chance I can get to show off little munchkin. In saying that I haven't updated for a while. Must get onto it!!!

i'm not worried about people knowing my real name. i usually look into someone's profile to get there name if it's not there i use their username. the same goes for websites, if they are listed i'll sometimes be nosey as i assume that's the whole point of having one

Well like Nikki my actual name isn't a big secret as it's also my tag. In saying that my real name IS Antoinette but only really my family calls me that these days....I got tired of everyone shortening it to ANT which I used to hate so I started introducing myself as Toni when I was at highschool & its stuck since then.
I don't have a website so that isn't really a problem.
I usually just call people by there tags unless I notice that other people have been using a name then I check the profile to make sure I've got it right I wouldn't want to call someone by the wrong name!

But seriously tho, I think everyone here knows who I am, and I have a link to Maya's webpage ,and I don't mind who looks at it coz I think deep down we're all proud Mummies who just want to show off our babies...
