Topic: Wedding Songs Posted: 28 May 2006 at 4:32pm |
Hey Girls,
Well the count down is on... 4 months to go and I need to start thinking of wedding songs... and obviously as I am posting here I don't know where to start!!!
So for ideas - what songs did you have for dancing, first dance, entrance etc?
Our music taste is ummm ecletic!! (sp?) We like virtually anything and everything so if you can give us some ideas that would be great!! And ill post the list when I get it together!!
Thanks Ladies!!

I walked down the aisle to Enya- only time and my SIL sang Dido - Thank you while we were signing the marriage cert and our first dance was Van Morrison - I'll be your lover which is quite a slow song. Other ones we played were Amazed, cant remember who its by and savage garden - truley madly deeply.

I walked down the aisle to 'your love' by the Parachute Band (funky NZ christian band), signed the register to 'without you' by Brooke Fraser, we left to 'I believe in a thing called love' by The Darkness, and for our first dance had 'unforgettable' by Nat King Cole. We had a song during the ceremony too, 'I could sing of your love forever' by Delerious. Eclectic as!! Good luck choosing wedding music- if you're thinking of it 4 months out you're doing pretty well I'd say.

we had vangelis 'conquest of paradise' (crusaders theme true supporters!) playing while everyone entered the church and sat down. i walked down the aisle to westlife 'unbreakable' and signed the register to blue 'best of me'. our first dance was supposed to be aerosmith 'don't wanna miss a thing' but the dj 'forgot' to add it so it ended up being eric clapton 'wonderful tonight'.

We started out with "You're just too good to be true" by Lauryn Hill, and then also had:
Amazed - Lonestar (country band)
Heaven - DJ Sammy (slow version)
You raise me up - Josh Groban
Bless the broken road - Rascall Flatts
And finished up to "Volare" by Dean Martin
Keep in mind that my wedding wasn't quite typical, but hopefully that will help get you started !

I wanted to walk down the isle to the theme song from braveheart but it didnt sound so good on an organ so i went with another song that was actually remade by a rapper GAH i cant for the life of me remember what it was called lol
First dance was to Kelly Clarkson - A moment like this.
Was supposed to dance with dad to Sarah McLachlan - In the arms of an angel, but we lost track of time lol

I walked down the aisle to Pachelbel played by our string quartet and our first dance was to '2 steps behind' by Def Leppard We went to lessons and had a dance choreographed to it, it was a rumba and everyone loved it- was so much fun!

Some of my songs I am tossing up about
Up the asile: UB40 "can't help falling in love " (elvis version a bit slow for me)
Proclaimers "500 miles"
Van Morrison "Have I told you lately?"
Chris Knox "Love not given lightly"
Wedding Dance: Van Morrison "someone like you", the version of "your love is king" from Bridget Jones 2, Salmonella Dub "love your ways" or Black seeds can't think of the name right now...
Other music I have heaps of Idea, I am just going to make some CDs to be played before I arrive and during the signing and leaving etc. Although I may copy Shrek and have smashmouths "I'm a believer" when we kiss...

Eh I wasn't going to mention it myself but yeah, Angel by Sarah McLachlan is about dying, so even though it's a beautiful song I find it too sad

We just let the DJ decide. Told him songs for the oldies earlier then music slowley got louder and younger. Also people did requests which was cool.

I never looked at Sarah McLachlans song as a funeral song i guess listening to it if u werent to know it just sounds like you are dancing with your angel which in my case was my dad due to him having the balls to adopt me when i was 2 and living up to being my dad all my life and coping really well when my biological father tried to step in. Songs are strange they tend to have different meanings for anything really.

I walked down the asile to Endless love instrumental only, walked back down to signed sealed delivered and first dance was endless love. We had very different music tastes and this was basically all we agreed on. The other option was Shania Twain, From this moment.
Now good party songs, it really depends on your crowd, but we had a great range and the dance floor wasn't empty all night. I have a list at home but some were the following:
Brown Eyed Girl
Grease mega mix
locomotion (which as Paws will testify too eventuated in one of the longest locomotion trains I have seen, which left the reception room and went out through the bar and back!)
500 Miles
Summer of 69
It's raining men
I fell like a woman
Will check the list tonight and let you know more

I walked up the aisle (I came up to Nat, his groomsmen and the pastor from behind them) to a family friend playing his violin. He also played while Nat and I took communion together, and while we signed the register, and at the end as we walked down to everyone.
We didn't have a dance. We had an afternoon tea reception, which started at 4pm and was all over by 6pm!

We had quite a traditional wedding. I walked down the isle to the wedding march, hehehehe, we had a soloist sing Ave Maria as we were leaving and we had our first dance to a traditional walz....

oh my gosh Becca your wedding sound's alot like our's we had an afternoon tea that was over by 6pm.
For walking down the asle it was flower of Scotland played on the bagpipes this was for my Dad he wore a kilt(sp?)also I had alway's dreamed of having the bagpipes played at my wedding. Then during the service my best friend sang "Heaven" but DJ Sammy(slow one)This is was one of dream's to have my friend sing she has the most amazing voice. Then I left to the normal wedding song. I would have loved mre music at the service, but cause we did Alan's Dedication we did not really have enough time.
