    Posted: 28 October 2008 at 7:14am
I have been on antibiotics for over 3 weeks as I have had the mother of all infections in a gland in my neck. The infection has finally gone away and I finished my antibiotics this morning. They are the type that you take atleast an hour before food, so your stomach is empty.

This morning my stomach is on fire, so obviously the linng has been burnt away from the antibiotics.

Does anyone know what I can eat/drink/take to help the stomach lining fix itself please?

I think, from memory, they recommend milk? It's what they say to drink after having a bad night on the turps and throwing up etc as it coats the stomach lining and stops the natural acids further attacking it...(this is from memory though)

I'd be taking something like Inner Health Plus to replace the lost probiotics in your system.

Good luck.

Probiotics, and you could also talk to your GP about losec - I lost part of the lining of my stomach due to stress a few years ago, and the losec really helped.

Thanks for your replies. I have been drinking milk, but as soon as I stop drinking it, it starts burning again.

Will go to the chemist today and see what they will give me.

Thanks for your help!

Try drinking Yakult - it's a Probiotic yoghurt type drink made from fermented milk (nicer than it sounds) and you can get it from supermarkets and if not there the fruit and vege shop near me sells it

peachy - eat a banana. Not one that is too ripe or too green. It is a naturally alkaline fruit, and helps with lining your stomach again.

Bananas have a mucousy-typy substance in them, that acts in a similar manner to the mucous lining in your stomach.

Whilst yoghurt is good, it is slightly acidic, so may not help, even though it is full of healthy bacteria.

I also concur with what Pearls said about losec. It is good so it gives your stomach a chance to heal itself again.
