I got my bridesmaid and flower girl dresses from a place in Northcote, chinese place where they make to measure.
I can't sew, and my chief bm is plus size, so off the rack wasn't an option. Also had an 11yr old and a 6 yr old to fit.
The $$ of the dresses was the same as Staxs so comparable to buying.

i didnt have bridesmaids but my niece carried one of the rings to us and my mum made her dress, along with mine and her own. i think it would depend on how many bridesmaids you were having. didnt we all give you ideas on bridesmaids dresses already?

I hired my girls dresses. It was great and hastle free and they had loads to choose from. They were happy to adjust them slightly to fit properly so we were very happy

My bridesmaids dresses were bought from Stax. But I'm bridesmaid for a friend and we went dress shopping today. Principals have HEAPS of gorgeous dresses in at the moment and all very reasonably priced. There aren't many floor length so depends if you want that or more knee length. But they have a website with most styles on it Principals

My mum made mine for my BM's. I brought the material (about $70 for 2 dresses) and my mum had the rest of the stuff. So yeah I paid for them - but they paid for almost everything else I think.

I had mine made and they were all different. My 3 sisters were my bridesmaids and they are all so different that they each picked what they wanted.

What colour are you having? and what size are your BMs?
If your BMs are smaller than a size 16 and wearing black there are loads to choose from, Ezibuy have some great styles for real cheap.

I also brought mine of Trademe they were under 200 each and made to measure. My Sil is in the process of organising her wedding and has been quoted around 100 - 150 for making + material thats in dunedin. If you can manage to get something at stax on sale that you like that can be a good option a friend did that. Good luck

There are heaps of affordable made to measure ones on trademe :) But my darling head bridesmaid never got her measurements to me in time, so we went to Pagani and got gorgeous ball gowns from there. It made it easy because the bridesmaids lived in different parts of the country and could go into the store with the code, and try the dress on :)

I got my 2x bridesmaid dresses from Shanton for $20 each at an end of season sale almost a year before my wedding. I knew I was definitely having 1 bridesmaid and got the 2nd one incase I ended up with 2 (which I did).
There are so many dresses out in shops this season, theres no reason to spend hundreds on a dress that may only be worn a couple of times!

I had only had 1 bridemaids and brought her dress from Stax. I can't remember how much I paid, but pretty such it was under $100 and it is a dress that she can wear again.

I got mine off trademe, can't remember how much i paid though but I did get 2 the same and had them altered slightly to fit, it was so much easier that way.
They were originally dresses from pagani actually.

I brought my BM dresses.
When I was a BMI had one dress brought for me from Stax and the other was made to measure.. the brought one was definitely the better and nicer one.
Just keep an eye out for sales, go to Dressmart there is a Stax outlet store there.
Second checking out Ezibuy especially their Grace Hill range.

When I was a bridesmaid back in March, my dress was made in Tauranga... and I was in Wellington! And also in the midst of losing weight. So I had to email my measurements through to the bride almost weekly as they kept changing. When the dress arrived with only about 3 weeks to go, the zip did up only half way and I really started to panic. I felt bad for the bride (although she was as calm as anything and not panicked at all!) and I had to organise to get it adjusted. It was far too much stress, but everything turned out fine and the dress fit perfectly in the end.
For my bridesmaids, I bought material for the skirts and had those made by a friend, and bought tops from Stax. I would rather buy than get made! So much more room for error with getting them made.

Hey fluery , having burgundy colour and BMs are size 6 ,12 and 16 ....am not averse to black , but is that too ...black ...in a forest wedding ?
They all want long dresses too, which is fine, but seems cocktail length is the "in thing " atm
if you get the dresses made to order off trade me...how do you do that? is there a section you look at ?

My BM bought her own (she got about 4 or 5, lol) and I was a BM in feb and that dress was made and what a PITA that was. lots of fittings and had to be so carefull with wirhgt (and it was hard especially inthe boobie area with BFing as they 9well, one) is HUGEER at the end of the (non feeding) day, Persoanlly I thought it was a real pain, especially int he last few blinking days, plus, like others have said youy can get lovely dresses from everywhere for good prices.
