I've just had 4 emails from friends on my bebo saying the link in the bebo message I sent them wouldn't work... I didn't send anyone a bebo message! So is it a virus or do I have a hacker? Has anyone else received strange emails with links in from friends on bebo or facebook?

Yes! I received a random one from Emz (on here) that she didn't send. I didn't open the link cos it looked weird and had a weird message.
ETA: I think it's a virus?

Apparently I sent 4 to people on sunday from my parents computer. It was strange, as it was like the computer had taken control of my mouse and was automatically trying to send emails to friends.
I think Im going to get rid of my account, Im so sick of the spam!

Yea I got a message from someone saying "My bebo profile picture has been featured on..." but when I opened it up (or went to the link:" it opened up HEAPS of pop up windows that I couldn't get rid of

I received 3 video links from 3 different people (2 on bebo and 1 on facebook) all saying I'd been caught on tape in compromising situation (naked etc). I didn't open them assuming they were a virus because 1) I've not been caught on tape naked I am certain of that and 2) the messages were apparently sent from 2 of my nieces and an old friend of mine none of which would message me about that sort of thing (laughing about it). So I've assumed it's a virus and better safe than sorry.

Yep it is a virus and Bebo (as far as I know) aren't doing anything about it. Don't open the link thou as your friends will then get the messages from you.

its horrible i have that to. and theres one like that on msn that has your friends sending pics saying stuff like do you think this pic looks cute? then you get it and it sends it to all your friends

I got one too and the funny thing is it was from my daughter who was in the bath at the time, no where near any computer lol. I erased it without opening it as well.

Yup all of my friends have been affected by it. Just delete them, if everyone made their profiles private it would help.

I got the "what are you doing in this video" email too  ..and i see heaps of those "check out my photo" or " I think your cute" posts on friends pages...I'm a bit over Bebo now...got the hang of the whole facebook thing (took a while though LOL)
Seems a bit off that Bebo doesn't do anything about it either

Even if your profile is private, it doesn't mean you're protected....as your friends can get it. I got the msg from one of my friends (I have a private profile) but didn't open the link.

But by being private it reduces the risk of you being used as the ones to send the msg. I just ignore all PM's and delete them immediately. There is a group on bebo combating this and they give you instructions. ie agree to neither send or recieve PM's until this is resolved. delete all msgs till that point, make your profile private, regular virus checks, report as much as you can (not so good if its your friends becuase they get a posting ban put on) ummm can't think of anything else. But there are people working on this.

Yeah my profile is private, but I got the message first from one of my friends who often sends pics and videos etc and so I clicked on it, and it didn't work so I thought the link must have just been broken, so I deleted it, but that must have been enough for it to send to all my friends
I put a message up on my bebo page saying "I didn't send anyone a message so if you get one from me don't open it!"

I deleted my bebo. My DF started getting all these random emails from freinds he hadnt spoken to in AGES and the messages only ever said, hey check out my new pics" or something.
I just use facebook now.

I haven't logged on to Bebo in months but I still have my account because a few friends haven't switched to FB yet, and there's on in particular that I don't want to lose contact with again. Here's hoping everyone starts making the move and then bebo has no option but start listening to user complaints.
