Topic: trademe anyone? Posted: 21 November 2008 at 8:26am |
i have listed a couple of things on TM and was just wondering if anyone still uses it?
i don't look as much as i use to and it seems to be harder to sell things on there now......even with the increased postage, it's still hard to get things sold locally...
so how am i suppose to get rid of the 4 rubbish bags of kids stuff to make money for new stuff??

Yep totally hear you there, it has REALLY gone quiet on Trademe which sux because it was such a good way to get rid of stuff!
I think its just that people are really tightning up now with this whole recession thing.

I still use it. And i've sold a few of Daniels things lately. I've found that bulk lots go better with kids clothes

I just recently had some good success with TM selling bulk lots. I sold all the branded stuff PP JK with $1 reserve around got over $35 for each bulk lot containing around 8 items and the rest I did in lots of 20 items all with buy nows of $40 and everything went without a hitch! I was surprised but relieved at the same time hehe. Only have had one person not pay up grrrrrr

I always look there first if there is something we're looking to buy.
I do agree though, kid's clothes and stuff just aren't moving as fast as they used to be.

I still use it too but I have found that people are expecting quite a lot for what they are selling so they aren't selling as fast (I mean $25 for a PP Tshirt and shorts that are well worn is quite a lot, especially when there are outlet stores!)
I think things sell better with low reserves. In this hard time people are watching their $$ (well, I know I am).

I find the postage a bit of a drag. There are lots of items with a fair reserve but then the postage doubles it. Half the time I think that, for a few more dollars, I can get it brand new so why get it off TradeMe?
Sales are definately slower too - I wouldn't bother trying to sell anything not branded. I am about to give a whole heap of stuff to Women's Refuge. In the past I might have attempted to sell some of it, but now it just doesn't seem worth the hassle.

so i am probably going to go thru my personal wardrobe to sell some clothes, but am guessing by what you all are saying that it's not likely to be worth it?

I've bought a few maternity clothes. I got 3 pairs of pants for $2 (!) and 5 tops from the same user for $12, so $14 all up and postage was $15! Still $29 including postage is pretty good for 8 items of clothes hehe! I wouldn't buy more expensive items off there because of the postage costs though. (and because I'm cheap )

Yeah the postage is the thing for me cause we are rural so it adds up pretty quick. I tend to give stuff to the local salvation army. But have recently brought a few maternity items off tm. Im looking for stretch and grow things for new girl at the mo. we only have 2 baby shops here that are soo expensive so i tend to wait till we go to dunedin or get it off tm
