Topic: So one week on... Posted: 07 January 2009 at 3:49pm |
... how is everyone going with their new years resolutions???
I finally gave up the smokes on the 3rd (well the late hours of the 2nd), I have started counting my steps again (only on working days at the moment), and my aim of 15000 a day I am achieving that and a bit more (but I did only start back on Monday). I haven't brought a 600ml of coke zero yet either - I did have one but it was a free one.
My big one of losing 25kgs will be an on going thing. I am hoping the walking 15000 steps a day, giving up smoking, and the endless bottles of coke zero will belp me on my way.

i havent eaten a single potato chips, biscuit, piece of chocolate, soft drink, pizza, fast food... i cant think of what else. lol. but i am doing pretty well. not trying to lose weight for obvious reasons but am a junk food free zone :) and on top of that i have had 2 fruit serves, 5 vege serves and 3 bottles of water everyday. im quite proud of myself. well done for the not smoking though. i had to get pregnant to quit and still had a couple of sneakies on new years. lol

Well done Becks. Just don't put too much pressure on your self re the weight loss as I know from experience that gaining weight goes hand in hand with quitting smoking. Perhaps just concentrate on maintaining weight at the moment rather than loosing it. No point setting your self up for failure. Best to be off the fags and sort the weight out once the smoking is sorted.

And I can also sympathize, a person walked past me today and lit a cigarette. It sounds horrible but it smelt SO good! I miss smoking but glad I managed to give it the boot for so many reasons.

Good on ya Becks with giving up the smoking.
I'm still on holiday so healthy eating has been a mixed bag, loads of fresh fruit but also been having nice ice creams too.

Good one Becks, it took for me to get pregnant to give up smoking, and as for losing weight that will have to wait till after baby is born.
Oh and no resolutions here i find them to hard to keep.

Good on you!
I gave up when I got pregnant with Jackson and I was not supposed to start back again.. But I found once I started having the occasional wine I really craved a cigarette, so I started buying a packet every time I bought a bottle of wine. Over christmas I was buying a bottle every 2-3 days!
My resolution was to stop my cigarette buying and social smoking, so far so good.
I feel really depressed though, theres nothing like sitting outside in the sun with a glass of wine and a cigarette, and a good book.

OMG Kaiz I so know what you mean. That is really hard at the moment. Knowing me once Nigel is back at work and away from me I will be back on them.

Yes, who would have known something so disgusting could be so so good.
I find that I am always thinking about it, especially in the evenings once the kids are in bed. It was like a reward for me I guess, and now I have nothing, except perhaps chocolate biscuits, but I dont want to go down that track.
My Bestie used to always pop over for a coffee and a cigarette in the afternoons and now that we have both given up we dont do it. I really miss it, its shocking!

You guys are doing so well at not smoking -
I haven't ever smoked but I do realise its very hard to give up (having been around people who have in the past). I just wanted to say "you guys rock!"

Good on you guys, I gave up cold turkey nearly 6 years ago and can't believe I ever smoked, it's so gross, haha! You will get to the point where you don't like the smell but I think it takes a while.
Good luck
