    Posted: 08 January 2009 at 8:43pm
Since finding out about this pregnancy I've had constant mouth ulcers. Some are tiny ones on my tongue but I've also had really big ones on my gums and they all hurt!!

I don't remember getting them last time and I've been feeling too yuck to go to the shops to get something for them

Has anyone else had them a lot during pregnancy? Is there anything I can put on them that's safe?

I know one thing I put on ulcers if I have nothing else is salt, it really hurts though.

But what i would use normally is bonjella, not sure how safe it is during pregnancy though, might pay to ask the pharmacy.

I used to get them as a kid. Mum would always make me gargle salt water. Can't remember if it works but its safe to try

Isn't it a lack of Vitamin C?

Man I always get them too, usually from eating lollies for breakfast

You can get this green gargle stuff from the chemist that numbs your mouth but honestly the best thing is putting salt directly on them. It hurts so bad and your mouth will water but they always disappear the day after so its worth it. Vegemite also works.

Congrats on the pregnancy

Gargling salt water helps heal them.

I think Bonjela is okay in small amounts. Check with your pharmacist though.

Its usually a Vitamin B deficiency that causes them.

I used to get them heaps as a teenager and my mum used to make me gargle salt water and then made me a lettuce sandwich. (ice berg lettuce is the best) There is something in the lettuce that helps clear them up but i'mnot sure what it is. When I was first pregnant I got a couple and the taste of the salt water made me gag so I just ate pretty much a whole lettuce and by the next day it was gone.

Hope you get rid the the yucky thing.

I had a sore wisdom tooth while pregnant with Caden and I asked my MW is bonjela was ok, and she said yes.

They are caused by being vitamin b deficient - are you taking multi vitamins - try eating marmite by the spoonful.

I've got some preggy mutli vitamins here but haven't been taking them yet cause I feel to yuck in the morning to swallow them. Apart from marmite, what other foods have Vit B in them? What else is a side effect of low Vit B?
