no-one has started a august mums thread, so i thought seen we are NEXT (woohoo!) i'd start it, as the next month or so im sure we are all goin to be jumping at every niggle or wondering if we are feeling "normal"... and its nice to hear that others are feling the same and going through the same symptoms!

-so anyway!... yesterday i had my first checkup in 3 weeks, didnt go great. it showed my blood pressure had gone up from 135/75 to 150/100 doh! thats quite a big jump! so now i have to go in for bloods and maybe get monitored, but havent heard back from my midwife so dont really know whats going to happen, i saw her backup yesterday. but im freaking out, because my first pregnancy i had really high blood pressure like that and ended up with an epidural to lower it (and hated every minute of the epi, lets just say im NOT the biggest fan of them! then i had a heamorrhage.... one of the yuckiest things i have had to go through, and im sooooo scared it will happen again, although im trying to remain positive and keep in mind that they know that these things may happen to me, so will have the drugs to prevent things, but still, dont want to have to go through it again!!! argh!

this is becoming a novel!, the other thing at the moment is the frequent bowel movements! argh! they are loose and sometimes runny, but it seems that im having a big cleanout (sorry tmi) i feel like im forever on the toilet and its sooooooo uncomfy! wah! ok, enough of my winge and sob story.

hope to hear some updates from other aug mums!

I hope everything goes alright for you mum2emj!!

Well, I'm happily enjoying my first week of maternity leave this week :) :) :)

This is my first child and it's starting to sink in now that I'm going to actually have to push this baby out in the near future! I have done the hospital tour and have my bag almost packed so I think I'm prepared (although not mentally)...

Physically I feel good aside from the really bad carpal tunnel and acid reflux, but that's a small price to pay when I know of many other women who are sick all through their pregnancies.

Other than that, my current concern is that the baby might not stay in the great position she's in right now as I feel her repositioning herself more now than ever before... At my last appointment my midwife said the head is starting to engage so that's where I hope the head will stay!!. And I don't know about you ladies but I still can't tell which body parts I'm feeling when I lie down and feel the outline!

Well, my first scan told me to expect on the 4th of September, but other scans afterwards and according to the size of his head circumference told me to expect 22nd of August. This is the day that I had an abortion last year because I was still in year 12 and only 17 years old. If this little Peanut comes out that day then I know it was just meant to be.
I'm hoping it will be that day or earlier since I have been soooo sick and aching. Thought I had a show on Monday and went into hospital Monday night with huge pains and thought that it was it but didn't turn out that way. Apparently its just my muscles weakening and bruising all over my belly but mostly down the centre and lower right. Oh well.
This little fella is lying in the right position but his heads not engaged yet- I don't think. I see the MW next wednesday so I'll ask then.
So here's hoping to him coming in August.

Hey there August mums,
Just thought I'd pop into your thread and say hi...
Rachel, you must be totally freaking out about now with your blood pressure, however just remember, if there was bad news, you would have heard from your midwife straight away. They only take forever to deliver the 'oh, you're fine' statements. If it is really stressing you out, phone her or her buddy for the results. Extra stress can push the blood pressure up. Things will work out the way they work out, and even if you do need an epi and happen to haemorrhage, not that I think you will, it will be a lot less scary than the first time around...you're prepared for a lot more this time, so Murphy's Law should kick in and make sure that all of the horrible stuff you prepared for doesn't happen. Happy thoughts coming your way from this part of town anyway.
Pepsi - congrats on the maternity leave. Shows you really have hit the home stretch now. I empathise with the reflux. I've gotten to the point where I had a craving for the lemon/lime flavoured mylanta tabs the other day. How sad is that - craving antacid! Anyway, best of luck resting up as much as you can.
Ahhhh Stevie you month-jumper!!! I forgot to ask where in the Pineapple state you are - I spent a whack of time in Rockhampton as a young'un and still have a soft spot for the banana benders. Best of luck in keeping yourself as comfy as possible.
Well, I should skip back to my own month...best of luck ladies

Hi August Mummies!
I'm glad you started this thread Rachel, I was thinking this morning that we should have one.
I hope your B/P settles down and you avoid the possible complications it can bring. I hope you can take it easy in the meantime too, although I guess that's easier said than done with 2 littlies already!
It sounds like we're all pretty ready for the big day to arrive. I'm in no way wishing for an early baby but I often wish I could make the time go faster.
I'm feeling really well mostly, although I get tired easily now and am experiencing the joys of constipation thanks to iron tablets . Nothing to complain about really though, I'm lucky.
How are you guys finding eating now? My appetite has come back in force since baby dropped and there is more room in there! I feel like I'm always either eating or planning what to eat next, lol.
Thats enough from me for now, belly rubs everyone!

Oh yeah I know what you mean Bekkie, I haven't met anyone else who had it during pregnancy either and all the other mothers I have spoken to think it's something non pregnancy related because they never got it!! I know it's not because it has been in heaps of the books and websites I have read.

Mine started near the beginning of the third trimester and has gotten progressively worse since then including my wrists but not in the legs area you poor thing!! Some people can't understand when I tell them I can't squeeze a tube of toothpaste in the morning because my hands are so weak and sore haha...I have a trick now where I just press the tube with one palm on the bathroom counter area to get the stuff out

Also, the accompanying trigger finger is painful too...where you make a fist, and then you try and open the hand but some of the fingers stay there until they click back into place!!!

I only know a little more about CT because my mum has non-pregnancy related CT and has had surgery for it. She never got it during preganancy though so not sure if it's a genetic thing??

YA about time! good thinking its a bit scarey to think we are next. I am totally over being Pregnant every morning I wake up and tell baby today is a good day to enter the world. I am due to see my midwife today can't wait. I am really looking forward to trying the home birth thing, but very scared at the sametime the whole no drug things is a little worrying, but hey everyone has faith I can do it, so so do I.
My little man is out for the morning its nice to have time to get thing's done.
Hope everything turn's out ok for you with your blood pressure.

Pepsi - I totally agree, all those lucky pregnant woman that dont get it!! At least it will go after pregnancy!! I never knew how pregnancy really was, but experiencing it now, well its not as cool as it looked when I was younger lol
I know what you mean about making the fist. I cant do that in the mornings at all either!! Really hurts, hurts at night too! I google searched it and found the babycenter site. It explained alot for me and described exactly how I feel!! I guess its persuverance(SP) lol I cant spell

Rachel - How are you doing?? I had my MW come and do my BP for me today and mine was 130/80 and she said that was a "tad" high for me! but thats nothing compared to yours!! I hope you dont have to have done to you like what happend last time!! Does'nt sound nice!!

I dont know why I bother going to bed at the moment! The last 2 nights I have'nt been sleeping at all!! I think its my big belly making me so uncomfortable and my mind being so wide awake!!

Does anyone know if its possible to sleep back on your tummy the first night after baby is born??

Yup Bekkie, it is. Hooray!! I am a tummy sleeper and really miss it.
After my daughter was born I was so glad to be able to sleep however I wanted again
It is a little weird at first, as your tummy takes a little while to 'deflate'.
I feel so bad for you Mums with carpal tunnel, it sounds so painful.
Mummy22, wow a homebirth will be so cool! I'd love to do it but Hubby was a bit weirded out by the idea. It just seems like it would be so much more comfortable before and after, being in your own home with all the comforts. I can't wait to hear about it!

CaraMel It should be good Hubby was really worried to start with, but we have alot of faith in our midwife. Also my adopted Mum is a nurse from back in the day so she has been at lots of birth's and will be staying the first night with baby so we are pretty lucky if we did not have that support there is no way I would do it. I told my midwife i want baby out now, but she said I have to wait at least another 2 week's otherwise it will have to be at the hospital.
You poor ladies who suffer with your wrists that has to be really sucky Oh well better get on hope you all have a grat day.

as for eating, if anything i have been more off food lately and eating less. and YAY!!! my bowels seem to be moving normally again! lol.....

bekkie- yeah its yuck waiting to hear something i saw a different midwife at my last check and she had told me i'd need to be checked again that ight and then seen by OB and stuff, and have the trace thign done on bubs etc.... so its been horrible waiting to see if any of that is still needed!!! i'd just really like to knw what my blood pressure is doing now.

im a tummy sleeper too, and i have only just really stopped sleeping on my tummy, more sideways tummy now, belly doesnt get in the way too much.... but still dont want to be squishing bubs up! as for hurting afterwards, i dont remember exactly. it did hurt a bit (the shrinking of the uterus, but that was mostly when breastfeeding/expressing, and at the same time the blood flow would increase...)

and im with ya on the tired thing!!! some days i have tonnes of energy, today it just dragged and i had to have a nana nap. but its best we listen to our bodies, man i'd hate to go into labour too tired.

I don't remember my tummy hurting after Alan however the one thing I could not stand was the smell of the blood after baby it is not like a period it has a funny not so nice smell to it.
Oh well it is house work day today so i have lots to do plus FIL is coming for tea tonight so I have to cook something nice.
Hope you hear from your midwife soon Rachel. HAve you rung her? I would give her a ring.

GAH!! I just wrote a nice long post and got logged out!
Stupid me, I should have copied it first so that I could just paste it back in.
Anyway... the condensed version of my rambling is:
Rachel, I hope its all god news from your midwife (assuming she has got back to you? I hope so!)
Bekkie, my tummy didn't hurt after having Ella. Just a few after-pains (like Rachel) when feeding, but they went after the first few days too.
I had a midwife visit this morning which was all good. She says he is ready to go anytime now, although I'm not expecting him to arrive early. (Despite what my in-laws keep saying!)
Over the weekend we put up Baby's hammock and his chest of drawers. I get so excited seeing everything ready for him! Its a relief too, knowing we're all set at last.
Well I better stop rambling, seeing as it has taken me twice as long to write this!
I hope you're all having a great day, and go easy on the housework Mummy 22!

Your day sounds much the same as mine Mummy22.
How sweet that your hubby doesn't want you walking too far!
I've been doing chores and washing all morning and have just sat down for lunch before my visitors arrive.
Baby has been very quiet today, I guess he's running out of room to jump around in there!
I wish I could go and have a nap but no doubt as soon as I nod off my friends will arrive, darn it
Hope you're all enjoying some sun today!
