Hiya

Has anyone used NZ post to send a package overseas?

I have a small but fragile gift I want to send to Perth, and I would like it to get there in one piece.

Is NZ post worth a shot, or can anyone recommend a courier company just for this once off?

It's really important to me that it arrives safely and before the end of this month.

TIA

I have had so many things lost or stolen by NZ post. If you do go with them make sure it is trackable. Otherwise try somewhere like Fedex.

Oh no, that sux! That's what I was worried about too. Hmm..

I googled courier companies and it seemed as though you need an account with them and I just wanted to send this as a one-off, but will have a look at Fedex thanks Saffron

I have used NZ Post and they are fine just make sure yor package is well wrapped and use a tracking ticket too. Most parcels are insured anyway

Okay, I will definitely send it track & trace.

Is it okay to package it up and label it all myself to send, or must I send it in an actual NZ post bag?

You can use your own packaging I think. Fedex do allow for one off deliveries as well. I'm sure NZ post will be fine though, I've never had a problem.

I wouldn't personally use NZpost again... we sent a package to my parents-in-law in Italy for Xmas... it never arrived, despite the fact that DF's father is retired and his Nonna is always home as well. We just received a letter saying that the package is back in NZ and we have to pay $70 to collect it after forking out $90 to send it in the first place!

I think their service is absolutely crap.. My in-laws didn't even get some sort of card-to-call to let them know that they had attempted to deliver the package..

In saying that, I would go with Fedex.. a friend used them and said everything was great

Hi there.. My husband is a courier with NZ Couriers and they do international pickups/deliveries through TNT Couriers. You could always give them a call and see what they offer - We have had a lot of freight through from overseas thru TNT and have never had any claims for damages etc...
Just another option for you.

Good luck
