Id like to get some professional piccys of emily done so am going to start looking tomorow at options here in central otago, the ones we have are really nice but i love the look of the black and white ones and the ones with the black backgrounds and then bubs in colour, so has anyone else got these done? what have others paid roughly? How many did you get? Is pixifoto worth going to or not?
So many questions

Pixifoto is a rip off (IMO). I am wanting to get some done by Sarah from Momentz. you may have seen some others use her. She is Auckland based but I have been in touch and she is happy to travel if we pay her travel costs. Her rates are really reasonable so if you were keen to split her travel costs that could be an option.

I would highly recommend Sarah from Momentz Photography, I have done both maternity and baby pics, I also plan to do 6 month photos.

I actually liked my pixifotos here, although we got the whole set for $300 - down from the usual $980 (Or something like that) we chose the more contemporary style and were quite pleased with them.
But those were a family portrait style, I really dont know what the baby ones are like these days. We had some shocking ones done when Janaya was a baby in a flower pot.
From what I have seen Momentz are awesome, I wonder if theres anyone similar in Christchurch.

I vouch for Momentz photographers - sarah was great and I love all my pictures - Master2 wasn't the best subject and she still got some amazing photos plus family photos - very reasonable - would go to her again and again. Easy to find too (as long as you get the road name right - silly me)
Shes willing to fly down if you pay as well - and even if it cost you $100 to fly her down its still cheeper than most professional ones... for example we went to a well known professional award winning photographer - cost a small fortune for photos (5'7 =$95 ech) and you know what apart from one I don't like the rest! I loved all Sarahs ones :-)

Yeah, I am thinking of using Sarah when we go up north for a wedding in April but DH wont be able to be there so now I am wondering if getting her down here is better.

I am a newborn photographer, and can tell you it is worth every single penny spent to get professional photographs taken and DO NOT go to a place that just turns them out all day long. Your baby is only a newborn once, and you will always look at those photos with joy, but you will soon forget the pricey stroller or high chair. I spend 2-3 hours in a newborn session, being patient as they fall asleep, nurse, etc... it is all worth it and much better than getting the 20 minute photos at the mall.
I would be interested in hearing more about what a newborn session is like there. I am in the states now and moving to Auckland in December, and did not know if it was realistic to think that I could continue to find work doing photography.
Here is my blog if anyone is interested:) I just did my favorite session ever-newborn twins:) blog

Thanks so much! I have looked just a little at what being a photographer over there would be like. A lot of it is word of mouth, but I have not seen any style like mine there yet so maybe people would like it. But, let me tell you guys, if you are thinking of getting photos, do it! It is so much more expensive here in the US. People spend an average of around $500 on newborn photos here, and I guess that would be almost $1000 NZ!
Let us know how your photos go!

If you still get the free coupons in your bag when baby is born pixifoto is great for that. I have about 4 big pixifoto photos and haven't paid a cent lol.
