So did anyone else notice that tomorrow on Campbell Live (TV3, 7pm) they're doing a segment on public reactions to breastfeeding? (ie: in restaurants and other places) I think I might even be able to skip Shorty Street for this! Quite interested to see what kind of info they've come up with.

Anyone read the letter at the back of the Little Treasures mag? About the woman who was turned away from the skycity restaurant because the manager "didn't want anyone in his restaurant breastfeeding"... I couldn't believe it! I thought that was disgusting!

I so read that letter in the mag, and the response from the guy at Sky City was a bit up himself.
I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

That would sooooo tempt me to go up and do it. Then create a huge fuss and stuff. then again, I am particulary vindictive

Yeah, that poor letter-writer - how rude of Skycity!!  I'm dead keen to see what happens on Cambell Live tonight.  I'm pro brestfeeding in public if it can be done discreetly - that's just my personal preference and I don't expect everyone to agree with me or do the same (I say, being still yet to embark on feeding!!), but I do think it's awful of people to criticise mums the how/when/where they feed, no matter what their style.

I've gotta say though, I did get a shock to see a mum breastfeeding her baby in a department store yesterday, while still shopping around the aisles... she managed to walk about shopping with her top pulled up and baby feeding away!!  Sooo not my style, but imagine how rude it would have been for me to tell her that!?!  It ain't no-one elses business!

I am very interested to watch that tonight too - will even sacrifice Shorty! I am pro bf in public too Andie, BUT I have a bit of a problem with women like the one you saw feeding not quite as discreetly as possible. I quite often feed when we are out but always try to feed in a corner, or facing away from people, or last resort a blanket over my shoulder. Partly I dont want people to see me, but also cos I'm pretty sure most people dont want to see!

I think breastfeeding is fine if like other's have said it is done discreetly. I also have a problem with people that jsut hang it all out it make's it hard for the rest of us who want to do in quietly.

I have no problem with where people BF if they had a baby that will BF in public. I remember sitting on some steps in auckland somewhere breastfeeding lissy while Emma was BF Maya next to us (i acutally think she gave me the confidence lol).   i say feed them when they need it. Better that then to have a grumpy bubba

I dont have a problem with breast feeding but i think women have gone a little too far with it and whip their boobs out anywhere, you have to have respect for the public and alot of people dont like it,so i wouldnt just whip my boobs out in a restaurant, if it is necessary you go to the toilets,i do not agree with being able to breast feed anywhere, women seem to think they have to right to do it anywhere now,do you see men pulling down their pants and peeing in a pot plant at a mall, and could you imagine if they did what an outcry it would be,its all about respect for others, and women who seem to think they have the right to show the public their boobs obviously enjoy the attention
