I read on FF that the best time is 4-5 days before ov and when you ov. As I was getting confused too.
I think the optimum is to have the sperm present when the egg is released as the egg only lives for 24-48 hours after being released.

All advise says you should be bding 3-4 times a week, which is impossible for us at the moment as we only see each other on the weekend.

Your pretty much covered if you BD every second day leading up to ov. For example, if you have a 28 day cycle start BD'ing from around CD9 up to when you have confirmed ovulation, usually CD 14 or 15 on a 28 day cycle.

Good luck!

Hiya TaylasMum,

If you are not temp charting, the best way to figure out your fertile time is to do ovulation prediction tests (opk's), check your cervix and cervical mucus and then bd on those days.

Opks : are available off Trademe or Ebay... you can start testing from day 9 til you get two dark lines.

Cervix : High and Soft (like lips)  - Very Fertile,   Low and Hard (like nose)- Not Fertile.

Cervical mucus : Eggwhite that stretches.

If you join fertilityfriend.com... they have very helpful tips to help you fall pregnant.... you dont necessary have to temperature chart..... you can record cervical mucus and cervical position to help see where you at in your cycle..

There are some great threads and the ladies wll help you along your way ..

Generally women ovulate 14 days before AF so count backwards and BD every second day for a week around that. But there are always exceptions to the rule so being aware of ovulation signs like what shezhoping said can't hurt either. Good luck and have fun

We tried to BD every day (with the odd day off) until ovulation. It was a bit exhausting but it worked!

I wasnt sure when i ovulated and wasnt sure of cycle length as it was always quite long at 45 days so we ended up BDing every 2nd day for a whole cycle - worked for us lol.

I still am not sure when I ov, my cycles lengthen each month since my MC in Nov 09.

I have also done the BD thing everyday from CD 10 Through CD 23, and it hasn't worked for me yet.

My last 2 BFP were after a month of BDing every day around what I thought would be ov.

I am starting to chart properly again this month so I can see if I am ovulating.
