How many midwives are meant to be present? I am sure I read somewhere it had to be 2 but can't find an answer anywhere

Your usual midwfie will have a backup midwife who she will call to come when u are actually near delivery. They have 2 , so that straight after the birth one can look after the Mum and one can look after the baby if there are any probs with either of you.

Yip two and also a lot of homebirth midwives will bring both to the hospital if you needed to be transferred.
