which one to chose?? its for my 4mnth old who is currently in the jolly jumper but tends to run instead of jump..........i have a very active 2yr old that luvs sprinting and wrestling so i cant put her on the floor when he is home..........she is also getting extremly bored .........she plays alot more then my son..........i was leaning towards walker as even if she doesnt walk she can still get the movement going and i can put her in the kitchen with me............but then i dont know so any input would be swell
Hi. I denfinately wouldnt get a walker, but an exersaucer instead. I am a physio and HATE walkers...they teach bubs to push themselves forward on their toes, so often get tight calf muscles and later end up being toe walkers.
I would go for the walker. DS wasn't that into his jolly jumper but LOVED the walker. he used to scooter all over the house. We don't have stairs so it was all good to let him go for it (plus we have a tiny house).
He started walking at 10 months and didn't become a tip toe walker....
I borrowed a exersaucer off a friend and i think he found it boring cos he wouldn't stay in there for much longer that a couple of minutes
We have an excersaucer. I hired one first to see if DD liked it and then bought one from Kmart for $100 I saw the same one at Farmers for $250??? It has been invaluable especially when DH was away and I needed to get things done. I only bought a new one, as all the TM ones were either crappy or too expensive in comparison plus we will keep it for the next baby.
Oh and the excersaucer is easy to move around the house plus you know they are going to stay in the one place so no need for having to go and get them all the time.
Jolly Jumpers are ok as long as they are used for small amounts of time (like no more than 10 minutes a day). Probably the same applies to a walker.
I have only ever heard negative things about walkers, like children using them to climb on to reach stuff.
Personally I would go for a excersaucer just to be able to keep them in the one place. And also keeping them safe form the older siblings - I imaging racing them around in the walker would be quite entertaining
Have you seen the excersaucer where they sit on the outside and can run around in circles? Maybe thats a good compromise.
We have just bough Jackson an exersaucer and I cant wait for him to start using it once he's old enough. We bought it off ebay for less than half the price of a new one.
My sister used a walker with all her children and their feet and walking have been fine but you need to supervise them in the walker to avoid falling down stairs etc.
I know Kmart here in Aus have exersaucers on clearance for $89 its worth checking if they have in NZ too
