At the moment Ethan is going to sleep between 9.30 and 10.30 just whenever I got to bed. I like this because he sleeps 7-8 hours at night now and this means I don't have to get up until 5-6.

My questions are:

What do you do with your baby? And if you put them to bed at say 7 do you wake them up before you go to sleep for a top up feed?

Will going to bed late make it harder for me to get him to go to bed earlier when he gets older?

You'll get so many different replies to this we used to wake Ashlee up for a feed at about 10, and then one day when she was about 9 weeks, we decided to see how she'd go without being woken up then (because it was SO hard to wake her at that time) and she's slept through ever since!

So her nighttime routine starts at about 6.30 when she has a bath and then a final feed and is usually down in bed between 7.30 and 8 and sleeps through until 7am at least.

If you try it, he might sleep his 7-8 hours from when you put him to sleep at 7, which means you may have to get up earlier in the morning.

Ashlee's on formula so this may make a difference, I'm not sure.

Babies constantly grow and change their routine. I had my Dr tell me that anything from a growth spurt to a day out can wack your kids out of any routine that you can ever so carefully set out for them.
Olivia has been sleeping around 10 - 12 hour a night since she was about 14 weeks and that was from 7-8pm or so (with no top up feed). When they are this young it is easy to get them to fit into whatever you think is best.
IMO I don't think you should change anything stick with what works. But if you want free time earlier in the evening, give it a shot.

Ellas formula fed but i have always put her down at 7 - 8pm and not woken her. She will sleep for 6 - 7 hours wake for a feed then go back down for another 5 hours. She sleeps right through now and i put her down last night at 7.45pm and she slept till 8.30ish this morning. I just pretty much keep her same bedtime and now she lets us know that its getting close to bedtime at 7pm

As a baby, my oldest boy Alex would not go to bed before 10.30pm. Now he goes to bed anyway from 7.30pm - 9.30pm, it depends on how hard his day has been. With my younger boy Blaire, he is usually in bed between 7 - 8pm as that is what suits me & he has settled into that well. Both my boys have slept through the night since they were 6 weeks old & not only that but my oldest boy *so far* really enjoys going to bed. He takes his favourite toy, jumps in bed by himself, I tuck him in & close the door behind me when I leave his room. He doesn't always go straight off to sleep because I hear him talking to himself but he stays in bed until 8am the next morning unless I wake him up earlier.

Linelle Jack had no sort of routine to his feeds and sleeps til he started solids. You could try putting him to bed an hour earlier and see if he still wakes at the same time
