Hi,
I have just found out Im pregnant again after a miscarriage at 11wks in November, and am paranoid the same thing is going to happen again! Is that normal? Just after some reassurance really from anyone who has been in the same situation!

Congratulations

Yeah you will be paranoid or at least feel that you are. I got pregnant two weeks post D&C. I think it's human to be less trusting with this pregnancy just try not to stress about it. I have a very accomodating midwife and ended up having 7 scans in total by 24 weeks, I also got my own doppler which was my saving grace really as could hear HB from 10 weeks. In some ways this pregnancy has been harder than first as I had bleeding with this one (none with miscarriage) but also found my increased morning sickness especially from 8 weeks on was reassuring.

Goodluck for the rest of your pregnancy.

Congrats. Best of luck with the next 9-10 months!

Paranoid - oh yeah, absolutely normal, and with good reason! I was a complete fruitcake until around 20 weeks (as the other ladies in my forum could tell you) then I started to relax. I suspect you'll worry about tiny little things as potential problems - although try not to if you can (I feel a complete hypocrite typing that). Let your midwife know about your anxiety - like Lillibit my midwife was completely understanding and I had a few early scans in an attempt to reassure me.

Hi there
Congrats on your new pregnancy
I mc in april last year and got pregnant in Oct again and even now 14wks on I still undie check
I have relaxed a lot more since having my scan and seeing a healthy active baby inside but until then I would worry...............tried so hard not too but you just can't help it.
I think having a mc or anything wrong with a previous pregnancy definatly takes the innocence away from any subsequent pregnancy.
FX this is a sticky one and hope you have a happy, healthy pregnancy

Hiya,

Congrats on the pregnancy! It is totally normal, I got pregnant 3 months after my m/c and found it really hard to concentrate on the good and was also a Serial Undie Checker! My little girl was born on the 1st of Jan totally healthy so try not to worry, just because you have had one miscarriage doesn't necessarily mean you will have another! Good luck hun and sending you sticky vibes!

Yep Im another to totally agree, Im still a bit of a fruitcake!! Im still serial undie checking, and Im 22 weeks! (I wonder when that will stop??)
I must admit that Ive found it a bit harder to bond with this one, once youve had a MC the innocence of PGcy is taken away.. But still try to enjoy it and take each day as it comes.
I had a few extra scans in the early weeks, I think I had had 3 before 12 weeks. And serial HCGs. Definately helped ease my mind.
I have an anterior placenta and got a doppler 1 week ago, 1 day later I could feel bubs kick finally!
So yes, its totally normal, and your MW/GP should try to do what they can to put your mind at ease

Oh god, I must be relaxed now. I'd forgotten about the obsessive undie checking and the fear every time I went to the toilet.

Kazza7 congrats on your pregnancy!!

Hugely normal as others have said, I mc'd in April this year and got pregnant again within a week or two. I was hugely scared up until about 20 weeks. I also bought a doppler around 10 weeks so I could put my mind at rest and listen to the hb when I was feeling panicky.

Try to enjoy this time as much as you can and not worry too much - sending lots of sticky baby vibes

Emmi - I like it how you said "innocence of PGcy is taken away.." that is SO true, it's not fair that we can't enjoy it like we should !

Congrats! so true the joy of preg is replaced with constant worry, its unfair, but once you give birth, you forget just how worried you were during pregnancy cos then you worry even more when bubs is here!! I had a missed miscarriage found at 12 week scan so each scan I was a nervous wreck and couldn't look at screen until I heard "oh theres baby". Hope that nervousness doesn't last too long, its so exciting once you feel baby move, I do miss that (my bladder however does not)

You never stop, it's just that what you're looking for changes instead (if you don't understand, you will when you get a wee bit further along LOL)

Congrats on your pregnancy kazza. You never stop worrying, and after a m/c it's even worse, but with the help of a supportive DP and MW, it is manageable, and 1 m/c doesn't necessarily mean another...nor does 2 m/c....or 3 m/c (I had 3 and then we got our girls, so we did get a happy ending eventually )

Normal to worry. I'm in the same boat, completely paranoid! Every twinge has me in a panic, I over analyse my HCG results and live for scan dates.

I read the other day that even if you have already had one MC during your next PG you still have an 87% chance of having a normal PG this time around, so only 13% chance of second MC.... it was an american book but I will take those odds!

Hi Kazza, congrats on your pregnancy!

I miscarried Oct 07 @ 10.5wks & found out I was pregnant at the end of Jan 08... Bethany was the result :-) Being worried is totally normal, I think I was a serial undie checker until the day she was born, although once we passed the 12wk mark I relaxed a little, then a little more after the 24wk (viable) mark, and so on and so forth. Remember that having one miscarriage doesn't make you prone to have another one, scary as it feels.

Big, big hugs remember you're not alone and this bubs has every chance of being the one you hold in your arms :)
