Topic: PikiFotos Posted: 11 December 2006 at 8:12pm |
I was at the warehouse the other day and i got given a voucher for a sitting and a 10"x13" photo for $5.
i was just wondering if that is a good deal. how much does a sitting with PixiFotos usually cost?
i'm thinking i might do it because i really want a good big photo of mikey to put in a frame.

that is cheap! they do that, so you'll be tempted to buy the other pics they take - at normal costs. the only drawback is, i think, you have to decide what pic you want printed on that day - before you see the proofs. they are usually good about recommending which one though. I chose one of jake when he was a real wee bubba and the girl ended up developing a diffenert one - she saids the one I had chosen close up ended up looking terrible.

actually, just rememerbing - I have I'm sure a few pixiphoto coupons that I can pass on to anyeone who wants them,. Not entirely sure where they are, but have some that Jake had, but we were in Japan, and some from Taine, but he is now 10 months old. think they will be for a bubba 0-3 months and 3-6 months.

If you want to buy the whole set which is like:
18 wallet pics in 6 diff scenarios
6 8x10 pics in 6 diff scenarios
6 A4 pics in 6 diff scenarios
1 double A4 in one scenario that you choose on the day.
(and bonus A4 black and white and snow globe you get for purchasing set)
You can get the coupon out of your bounty pack (or I can find one of mine) and it will cost $320.
If you get the coupon out of the bounty pack and just want the freebie that they offer you just choose it on the day.
You can reject some photos and choose others but you wont get the B&W or snow globe.
I think for the whole set it is around $870 with no discount and if they are running a %off it is normall around $400.
Although this is all what I got told from the guy who comes and visits New Plymouth, someone else might tell you different.
Want me to hunt down the coupon?

We had pixi photos done when Charlotte was a baby- they were fine as we were pretty broke at the time so we couldn't afford anything else. It is very very hard to not buy anymore though- when you see those pictures and you think you will never get to see them again unless you buy it, and then start telling yourself about how they're precious memories... never be this age again... etc etc its almost impossible not to dig deep and splurge. Now I look at those pics and doubt that we will even keep most of them! We had proper professional ones done and the difference in quality is huge. They cost a fortune but are real pieces of art that I just know I will want on my wall forever. If you just want a "fine" pic then Pixi is fine- if you want a keepsake then do it properly and go to the professionals.

We did that as well with a $10 coupon and went with my m-inlaw to collect them and ended up buying all 6 sets that were taken for $300 (Gave us special discount on day Normally $870 ) So we went halves with the inlaws, so glad because I couldnt decide which one to choose if I was just getting one.

we got a free sitting and 10 x 13 from portrait place (in farmers) - had one done of DH and I with preggy belly on weekend cause offer expired by xmas...but if we buy the set (which i wont be doing) it is RRP$1430 and with discount is $785!!! OUCH!!!
We may get one or two but will get copies done elsewhere off the photo if need be...horrendous prices...i thought wedding photo pricing was bad enough!
We had to choose ours without seeing it too so am not convinced it will be the best one...

The voucher you have is a good price but I don't think their full prices are reasonable at all. We go to PixiFoto regularly and mostly just get the freebie - and usually that's of all of us since those photos are the hardest for us to take!
Like Jennz and Mummy22 said, they're not always hugely great photos but stick with it on the day until you feel really happy with what have been taken. Sometimes the littlies take a while to settle in. At PixiFoto in Palmy they have an option of 1) baby on pedastool thingy (like Zaara) with tinted black background (your choice of colour tint) or 2) great big white sheet that comes down to floor level and you can sit right on there. I've found that works sooooo much better with Briona, she doesn't get as freaked out.

LOL I get asked that so much! No she has a pretty prominent vein there, apparently she will grow out of it and it is quite common.

Jack goes blue there too Peace only in the bath tho.
I had a great plan to go and steal the rest of the photos out of the bin the day they threw them away but thought I might look a but homeless.
