Is it something to do with the pairs of letters mirrored in each word?
ie: AN and NA in banana
       AM and MA in grammar
       OT and TO in potato

Or am I reading too deep?

Is it that apart from the first letter they can be read back to front (I know theres a proper word for it)

eg take the A from Assess and its ssess, the B from banana is anana

Or am I totally wrong?

I think it's the whole move the first letter to the end and it spells the same backwards... so yeah, working on the palindrome theory.

Well done!!!

In All Of The Words Listed,
If You Take The First Letter,
Place It At The End Of The Word,
And Then Spell The Word Backwards,
It Will Be The Same Word.

Ok who's got one??

There is one word in the English language that is always pronounced incorrectly. What is it?

What can go up a chimney down, but can't go down a chimney up?

During a recent police investigation, Chief Inspector Stone was interviewing five local villains to try and identify who stole Mrs Archer's cake from the mid-summers fayre. Below is a summary of their statements:

    Arnold: it wasn't Edward
             it was Brian

    Brian:   it wasn't Charlie
             it wasn't Edward

    Charlie: it was Edward
             it wasn't Arnold

    Derek:   it was Charlie
             it was Brian

    Edward: it was Derek
             it wasn't Arnold

It was well known that each suspect told exactly one lie. Can you determine who stole the cake?
