 Topic: sling or wrap?

Baby # 3 is due any time now and with a nearly 2 year old already, Im thinking about getting a sling or wrap for the new baby, but I cant decide which one will be better!
Anyone have a preference or recommedation?
Any advise would be much appreciated :-)

Personally for ease of use I would pick a sling, however a wrap will be more comfy if you plan on wearing the new baby for long periods.

We have a moby wrap that i love love love, but I am thinking about getting a sling as well, as I dont think it would be so hot for bubs in the summer? Sorry, that doesnt really help! But I do love our moby!!!

We have a moby wrap too and adore it, it's just wonderful and really comfortable to wear. We had a sling, but I could never seem to get the hang of it! Definitely personal choice - do you know anyone who has either that you could try out?

Yep a sling definately has to be fitted to you .. so you need to choose wisely a wrap on the other hand is one size fits all

I have a sling which i don't like but it all depends on the type of sling and the person wearing it of course.
I love my wrap though. My baby usually settles and falls asleep in it. She's a reflux baby. It doesn't hurt my shoulder and neck the way the sling does.

hmmm thanks for your comments...I still am no closer to a decision :o)
The thought about the heat with a wrap made me sway slightly more towards the sling...but the wrap seems more comfy.
Argh...decisions.
Unfortunately I don't know anyone who has either that I could try..

We have a nature sway sling (yet to be used!). We went for that because it is adjustable so both DH and I can wear it and adjust it easily.

I love my moby d. I have a 13month old and she is happy as larry in it, she falls asleep so comfortably. We took her on bush walks while we were away and the weight was so evenly spread that it didn't make a huge amount of difference.
Hubby was more partial to the wrap too, that might be a selling point

A nature sway doesnt have a wide enough strap area to distribute the weight, so if you do go with a sling style I would go for a d&z or a unido (a unido is made to measure, so its probably a better option).
Are you in Auckland? Slingbabies run monthly meetings .. or you could just check out their pros and cons page for each type of carrier.

I have a nature sway and DH likes it but I hate it. Its so uncomfortable 
We recently got a moby and LOVE it. It doesnt bother me wearing it in the heat.. I get hot carrying Jake just in my arms LOL
DH doesnt like the Moby though, he wont wear it LOL so he uses the nature sway still.

I have both and much prefer the wrap, but I wear bubba a LOT so I guess it depends on how much you plan to use it? I wouldn't use a sling for an extended period but they're much easier to put a baby in quickly!

We have a BabaSling that I got my sister in Melbourne to buy for me cause not sure where to get them in NZ. I saw them at the Parent & Child Show last year and thought they were great. We are yet to use it cause bubs is still 5wks away but I've had a bit of a play round with it and I love it already Can't wait to put it to use!

I  my moby. I could never get the hang of the sling  I also have a thing called a Papoozle made by tots bots which is very similar to a moby but easier to put on. plus I find I don't get as hot when I use it as you don't have to wrap it around your self as much as the Moby.

I don't have anything to add to what other people have said (for once! ) but just wanted to say if you decide to go with a Moby wrap then get it now as Robyn has a moving sale on so they're cheap and there's free shipping - but I think it's only for the next 3 days!

Apparently your body temperature will adjust if you are wearing bubs so they dont' get too hot. Not sure if that is for skin to skin only or if it works though a top?
But a plug for a wrap is that I had a fast asleep bub & a melting down tantruming 4 year old & I was completely handsfree to deal with her.

I have a D&Z sling but hardly use it as i just don't feel comfy with it. I always feel like i want to have one hand on the baby as he was not held close enough to me for me to be hands free. I used it more when he was bigger.
This time i'm looking at the Moby cos i'll have a teddler to deal with but i'm hoping someone will ask what this baby wants and i can tell them to get me one! Funnily no-one is asking, come on grandma's!!
