Topic: Poor kid Posted: 15 January 2010 at 9:12pm |
I took Kayla to the supermarket today and whilst at the checkout I could hear the middle aged couple in front of me discussing whether or not she's a boy or a girl. I didn't hear every word, but at one point the woman said to the man "ooohhh that's mean".. which I gather wasn't a compliment. As they finished paying and I pulled in with my trolley they both stood there for a second waiting for her to turn around and then I could see the woman shrug her shoulders and utter something about still not being sure. I just called out "She's a girl!".
Then the middle aged checkout operator told me I should get her ears pierced because "she's only young and won't feel it". And that boys wear red which is why it was hard to tell she's a girl (it's orange, not red dumbass!)
I wasn't too upset about all this or anything. Just made me feel like the place was full of idiots today haha
Here is a photo of Kayla and what she was wearing today. I didn't choose the outfit, her nana bought it for her (I probably wouldn't buy orange personally), but it's a change from pink
Poor kid..I'm sure she'll grow hair one day!

Gorgeous daughter you have there Pepsi. She is absolutely stunning, and obviously a little girl!!
Don't worry, everyone in the supermarket now thinks my son is a girl because of his hair and eye lashes.
I corrected one person, and they said "Oh he is to pretty to be a boy!"

Yep you are right the place was full of idiots! To me it would be obvious that Kayla was a girl, but more importantly if I was not sure the last thing I would do is discuss it!
My DD has been dressed in pink covered in a pink blanket and still someone said "he is so cute" and DD has hair! There are many many idiots out there thats for sure.
Oh and BTW she is totally GORGEOUS! I love the facials in the 1st pic.

lol! I feel your 'pain' .
I had one checkout lady wonder why I a) dressed my boy/girl twins in matching clothes and b) why I had pink on my son.

She is beautiful! Definately looks like a girl, even without a flowery top.
Anyway, why on earth do other people need to know if she is a girl or boy, how is it relevant to them.
And did the operater say that to you out of nowhere? If so, I would make a complaint.

Ha, we use to get the too pretty to be a boy comment with Spencer as well, and him mistaken for a girl often despite being head to toe in blue. He looks much more boyish now he is a bit older.
Kayla is gorgeous and doesn't look like a boy at all, and that outfit screams girl even if it is orange. Some people are just retarded.

don't worry, her hair will grow but those people will still be stupid
When Amy was small, we were in a lift one day and some random guy looked into the push chair and said - "what a cute baby, is it a boy or a girl" - hhmmm, the PINK blanket, PINK hat and PINK jacket don't give you a hint

Haha thanks ladies, we think she's pretty cute too.
Katep: The checkout lady said that in response to me pointing out to the couple that she is a girl. I guess she couldn't tell either until I said it haha

Its got flowers on it! I am sure we get a lot of the same comments about Maddi (and Keira too back in the day) and I know I dont help it by hardly ever dressing her in pink.
I used to try dressing Keira in pink frilly dresses and we would still get strangers coming up saying "isn't he a sweet little man". I gave up after that, some people are just too... dumb!
Its the hair, girls are supposed to have long hair and boys short.
ETA. She is just gorgeous, and such a girl!
Gosh this thread moved fast!

Of course she'll grow hair, and she'll have hair like my DD! She had noooo hair when she was a wee person and now she's got too much of it.
I still get it with DS "oh what a cute girl" and he's dressed in blue with a big huge truck on his tshirt *shakes head*..
