    Posted: 10 May 2007 at 12:37pm

hi there

I've really enjoyed working on the babies room for our wee man.. We have put the cot together, the changetable, picked up a chest of drawers for all his wee clothes last  week , also just bought & put together a nursing chair with footstool - It's so exciting to see it all coming together & that there will be a real baby in it soon!!

Wondered how everyone else who is planning is doing & if you've been having as much fun as we have?

Yeah I have definatley loved it, I have done a whole lot of art work including some canvases with her name on it _ Ella.

We have finished setting it up now and am just waiting to fill it with bubs.,

The only downside is we got everything in wood and it was next to impossible to get the wood to match( could not do white as that is the colour of the room) we did not want to paint as the whole house is the same colour and we dont expect to be here long

You should post pics of the babies room - I will try and figure out how and do it also

he he.. that's exactly what ours looked like too because we dumped everything there after we bought it - room looks completely different now though - it used to be our music room full of guitars, drums & other audio equipment..

Gee only 38 days to go for you kebabkat!!   You must be so excited!!

Sounds fab lilnutnut - Your canvases sound great too - we have a couple of learning alphabet & colour charts on the wall but have been looking at other things to add colour too.. Our walls are all white too & we decided we wouldn't paint but would try to make the room as colourful as possible.. most of the babies things are white painted wood - but hoping that with the babies bed covers & mobiles etc that it will not look too white!

I was hoping to find a good website that had nursery templates but not been that impressed with what I've seen..

I will definitely find a way to post photos of the nursery once it fully complete -which isn't far away at all

You also don't have far to go either! Yay!

If you want to brighten the room up, try stikarounds. They are great because you can move them and you can get some really funky ones.. these are some of the ones we have used..

Well to be honest I got my inspiration from Kebakat, I saw her art work of the animals and did some like those, nowhere near as good - I added my flair by putting in eyes and fluff.

Yeah I got most of my ideas of trademe - like the name canvases with woodden letters.

I thought that even though it would have looked better if it was done by an artist I wanted to add my touch it makes me know I had a part of it.

I have taken pics I just need to figure out how to get them onto my computer

oh trademe is great! I agree -personal touch is important.. I got some plain wooden letters from spotlight so we can put  my little mans name on his door & I have painted them myself. Was a bit of fun

umm, not sure if you know - i'm not too good with these sorts of things myself & havn't tried it but - your camera should come with a lead that connects it to your computer & sometimes your camera comes with software which you'll have to install first into your computer but sometimes you don't need the software & all it takes is plugging the lead in & see what happens. Hope this is helpful for when you get a chance to do it

You can get stikarounds at www.all4kids.co.nz I thought they were expensive but considering you can take them down and move them around etc its great!

Here's a couple more photos from our mans room..

Photo 2 - Cot

We have decided to put the basinette in the cot now and the change table is set up where the basinette is in that photo. But all looks pretty much the same

Thanks stacey  really love those stickarounds & your lil mans room is looking great! Mirrors a good idea above his cot too!

We have a bassinette similar to yours too - which is in our bedroom.. I was going to move bubz from our room to his cot in a few months..

Do you mind me asking about your  theory of putting his basinette in his cot? is he staying their from the start? I'm still not 100% sure what we're doing

I love the comfy chair Stacey, we have one of those in bubs room - it takes up most of the space but I know I am going to love it

yes we have a nice big comfy chair too. Think it'll be a must for all those hours we'll be spending there - go the comfy chair

There's a few reasons but a big one is space. We can't fit it in our own room (but never wanted it in our room). And his room isn't a big room, it just takes up less space if its in the cot. He has a big as walldrobe to make up for the lack of space though. Also I figure it might make it a tad easier later on when he moves into his cot, at least the "scenery" will still be the same for him. It's also a nice height.

ahh.. I see makes perfect sense! I have been told to get baby out of our room as soon as we can..

I just thought it would be easier for me for when i'm first breastfeeding so I can go straight from bed to him, feed him, put him down & hop back into bed again.. Although we have purchased monitors - I know I'm just going to be so paranoid about cot death to start with so wanted to keep an eye on him when he's quite wee.

I thought initially we might have him in our room in his bassinet for up to 3mths then try him in his cot.. but I might trial putting his bassinet in his cot a bit earlier so he gets used to his room.

thanks stacey
